I'm just gonna throw this out there since you're a developer: Hydro Thunder GO needs to be preserved before it is lost to the public. There is no way to play this game through emulation. I don't see why Switch titles should be emulated when there are past games that need to be preserved. It just seems that no one really cares about preservation. They just use that as an excuse to justify emulation.
@SuperFlashDriver16 күн бұрын
@@nickangelo16 I'm not surprised many people don't bother to look into games from the 1990s and before that no one has heard about. Heck, I don't even see people talking about intellevision classic games that was re-released on the PS1 that collected 25 Intellevision games from the early 1980s that was collected and made onto one CD-ROM disc at that time. But if you think that game could end up lost to time, some of the arcade cabinets that hasn't been archived yet could face something similar to that. And yeah, I don't know why people care about switch emulation when there's multitude of games prior to the 8th/7th gen consoles, but that's Gen Z and Alpha for ya. Also, Hydro Thunder GO, are you talking about the one on mobile devices or the one of the Gameboy??? I'm confused.
@nickangelo1612 күн бұрын
@SuperFlashDriver It is exclusive to Windows Phone. Someone preserved the XAP file and I was able to obtain that. It is the emulation that doesn't work. No one has worked on it in two years. The other emulator is rendered useless when the App Store closed. Preservation of this game is SO CLOSE, but no cigar.

Yes I agree - the only reason there is confusion is because investors think/hope that a big budget game = big revenue earning game = big selling game = good / quality game leading to the confusion that AAA are artistic successes / quality products. In fact, the "recent" set of spectacular failures of AAA games should have made it clear that the assumption that something has a lot of capital invested in it doesn't not guarantee it to be a major success (financially or artistically) by default.

i’m sure someone made this contrast already and i’m only echoing this sentiment too, but AAA to me means the same as. a “blockbuster” movie. huge budget, team, expectations, and experience to either a name or story that is either well known or grabs the attention from the mass media/consumers. however, over-saturation and underwhelming results of made me realize everything doesn’t need to be AAA, a blockbuster and these terms merely start to become buzzwords, kind of like organic or 4k. quality has been lost to some extent and quantity has made things lazy and lackluster, but that could also be the microwave media that we tend to subject ourselves to and expect everything to be released the same way we negatively consume so much media within seconds.

Normally with the "A" term in games I prefer to see it only as the budget invested in the game, even if the game was made by a small team or even one person, the money invested is only what matters. In my case I classify as: Indie: a game made with 10,000$ or less in budget Low budget: a game made with more than 10K but less than a million of $ in budget A: a game made between more than a million but less than 10 million in budget. AA: a game made with more than 10 million but less than 50 million in budget. AAA: a game made with over 50 million in budget. Now the quality of the game is subjective or debatable. "Triple A" used to be a marker of quality, or at least it's what Industry news would call a game that had a large budget and team of strong, experienced developers that guaranteed success. But these days the number of "self proclaimed" AAA titles that are actual trash have been steadily rising because as a marketing term it's a short hand that tricks people into thinking you actually put the work in. The more professional Marketing (capital M) pollutes the messaging, the less the AAA designator means, because Marketing is all about lying to get the consumer's money. You pronounced Shueisha right the first time. If Elon gives in, Twitter will die, not that it isn't already dying a slow death by a thousand cuts, but giving in proves the platform is everything people don't want it to be. People are going to tell Notch to make a Minecraft sucessor and then complain when it isn't just Minecraft 2. Mostly because he's already framed his passion project as something that only interesting to a certain subsection of gaming. Presentation is everything and he's already made it sound plodding and tiring as a tiled based game, maybe reconsider that and try again.
@xHasanYusuf16 күн бұрын
What qualifies as AAA these days is complicated. It used to refer to a game from a big company, as even $100,000 games were once considered big-budget. Today, a $1 million game can be seen as low-budget. Personally, I consider a AAA game to be one developed by a big company with a multi-million-dollar budget and a large team.

Triple A HAS ALWAYS meant ONE thing - Big companies. It doesn't matter what quality the finished project comes out as, it matters WHO made it, and WHO backed them. EA, Square, Microsoft, Nintendo, Take2, Rockstar, Sony.... all of these are big name AAA studios. They're huge budgets, huge teams, and often times, huge hype with huge disappointment (aside from Nintendo, their mainline Metroid and Zelda titles (except for Wind Waker and Other M) have always hit good with me, and despite my opinions, these titles almost ALWAYS have good reviews). AAA just means a well known, high budget studio made the game. Indie is indie. If an Indie dev makes a game that is "AAA quality" it's still an indie game and not a AAA game. Period. Also Shueisha - Shoe-eh-ee-sha. When said right it sounds like Shoe-ay(like hay)-sha because native Japanese speakers say the eh and ee syllables so fast it sounds like ay.
