I actually watched both G.i joes movies in anticipation of this caravan of garbage. My absolute favorite part is that I'm pretty sure the joes never actually find out about cobra's plan. Like they figure out they're gonna do bad stuff with the president but they never even hear about the Zeus thing ever in the movie. It's entirely possible The Rock just never finds out London is a fucking sinkhole. Bann anas.
@MultiverseAsheville3 жыл бұрын
I give these movies credit for almost aggressively not trying to be good. They prioritize being a live-action cartoon, and that makes them kinda fun. If Zeus had been a Weather Dominator, I’d have munched my popcorn happily. XD So when stuff like this happens, I’m like, “Yep. Yo, Joe.”

A couple of years ago, my dad came home from Walmart with a copy of this movie. He said he found it in the cheap bin and he thought it looked good. We watched it and had a good time, but I don't remember a single frame of the runtime. Fine, we'll probably watch it again when we don't have anything better. A few months later, Dad comes home from Walmart, hands me a brand new copy of this movie, and says "I found this in the cheap bin. I don't think we've seen it, but it looks good." Without saying a word, I turned around, went to the shelf, pulled the copy that we already had and handed it to him. I may not remember this movie, but I'll never forget that. I still give him crap sometimes. That Christmas, I fully intended to get another copy and wrap it up for him, but I forgot until it was too late.

What I heard is that when they shot the movie Channing was killed off instantly or off camera as well but somewhere during the post Channing's stardom skyrocketed from other movies so the studio decided to have some reshoots to include as much as possible of Channing, so they shot those pre-death scenes just so they could fit him in the trailers to trick the audience into thinking he was in this movie more than he actually ended up being
@darrenhood4033 Жыл бұрын
Actually what happened was, the plot leaked online which angered the fans. The backlash was so severe that Paramount ordered the film be shelved until reshoots were done. Fans were hoping that meant Duke would be spared but nope they just added the prologue and the fun bromance of the two leads playing video games. The toys were already to go and therefore Hasbro lost a lot of money holding those on shelves for half a year.

The solution to the different prison conundrum at the start is simple: there are 2 Cobra Commanders across these films. Then the first guy, Rex, says "I'm Cobra Commander!", like Michael Scott declaring bankruptcy, and somehow that works. After that, he and his pal go straight to jail. Then another guy thinks, well, it worked for him, I'm going to give it a go. He shouts "I'm Cobra Commander", then the first thing he does is change the decor. Then he does a couple of wars, maybe nanomite, maybe non-nanomite, gets imprisoned, probably for doing the wars, and they break him out in this film. The first guy's still in prison.

So original, do you just sort by new and wait to see who else says "x hasn't aged well" to inspire every comment you write or is it just this one?

As a kid who grew up with the toys and a teen who read the Larry Hama comics: This was the better of the two, by virtue of the costumes and sets alone.

It's funny how people call the Rock "franchise viagra", but the only franchise he ever successfully viagra'd was Fast and Furious.

You guys were talking on the main podcast about off-the-wall shit that Marvel owned at one point, but you didn't mention Conan the Barbarian, nor the fact that the 1982 film was essentially based specifically on those comics. Which sort of makes Conan the first Marvel movie :)

I kind of sigh at what could have been a treat for long time fans of GI Joe. Joe Colton was originally written to be Sgt. Slaughter as played by the man himself. Hell the tank used in the latter part of the movie could easily have been an updated version of the Triple T tank.

Tatum didn’t want to be in this movie, and wanted to be killed off.

I remember reading that they killed off his character but realised he was growing in popularity so got him back to shoot some more scenes. If he truly didn't want to be in it he could've just said no and the writers could just say he was one of the ones killed off-screen.

@@SA80TAGE he was contractually obligated to be in this one, and thus the reshoots, the death was about preventing himself from being asked about future movies.

@@NerdRahtio but he isn't the one that gets to decide if his character dies or not, and if he's contractually obligated then the studio could've forced him to be in the entire film and there's nothing he could do short of breaking his contract.

the merciless roasting of Bruce Willis feels quite bad upon rewatch considering we know now that he suffered from dementia for quite a while. breaks my heart that even through all that, he still kept acting. he wouldn't have done that unless he loved it.
