@@dantheanimator5072 You've got it all backwards. Twinkies has been nothing but a march TOWARDS preservatives and less normal ingredients. When they started out in the 30s, they were full of things like butter and milk. The _cream_ filling was actual (banana) _cream._ They had to get rid of those and replace them with inferior replacements to make them longer lasting. Plus they had to dump in a ton of other ingredients you would only use if you had to make something last. In the 80s, they switched to HFCS. Now I think the difference in flavor between cane sugar and HFCS is overblown, but it wasn't a change to make them healthier. They've continued this way ever since. There was no change in recipe to remove preservatives or make them "healthier". In fact, the Twinkies of today have the longest shelf life they've ever had: 45 days.

The Ghostbusters video game is amazing and is a great close out to the trilogy. They even referenced the game in the ongoing comic continuity. The game is great, check it out! The had unfinished/unused parts that made it into the 2015 movie.

Contrary to popular belief, Ernie Hudson was not some "random" guy who lucked into the rewritten role of Winston Zeddmore. Hudson had worked with director Ivan Reitman the previous year in "Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone" (with Reitman as executive producer). The two men knew each other and Hudson, who was stuck in the hell of episodic TV at the time, had made it known that, if Reitman ever needed a favor, that he'd make time to help out. Reitman needed a replacement for Murphy and Hudson, who was filming two feature films, a TV movie and episodes for two TV shows, somehow made time. Like they say, it's who you know...

I have no nostalgic attachment to the movie nor the franchise. Aside from being a decent 80s comedy and a technical achievement in special effects for the time, the movie is pretty mediocre.

Ah, just had another memory. So this movie was so huge when it released that a physical ghostbusters store opened up in a neighborhood near where I lived. My friend and I rode our bikes there and would just stare at what I'm certain was garbage trinkets. They had a "fan club" you could join, which I absolutely did, and you got some trash for your trouble. All I remember is a membership card, a patch (that was later sewn onto my ghostbusters halloween costume, thank you very much), and a pin that said "we came, we saw, we kicked its ass!" on it. I was so proud of that pin. That's it. I'm calling it. I'm the #biggestghostbustersfanofthepodcast

I was six when this movie came out. And I remember my dad picking a movie to watch in the newspaper and it was between ghostbusters and disneys the jungle book. He said “we’re going to see jungle book because I don’t know if I could stand to watch Dan akroyd and bill Murry scratching their balls for 90 min” 😂😂😂 my old man was awesome.

One thing about the original Ghostbusters I always thought was underrated is this song that plays when they're first driving to the hotel called Cleaning Up the Town. I think it's a really good song that kind of captures this 50s-60s jazz sound, and I'm kind of disappointed that it doesn't get as much recognition as the theme (although I still LOVE the theme song).

You guys should cover the Ghostbusters video game. I'm pretty sure it's canon and it does a lot more of the dimentional adventure stuff that the original script touches. An interesting piece of information about the Ghostbusters game is the older generation ports for it actually played out quite differently with a cartoonish style, some boss fights and set pieces being completely different, and the whole thing being a little more PG with less scary stuff. You fight a possessed slime T-rex skeleton in a museum in that one which is pretty sick. I believe I heard somewhere that Dan Aykroyd prefers that version to the scarier but intended new-gen version. The remastered new-gen version is available on Steam. Fun game with solid mechanics, a few horribly difficult sections, and sadly no possessed slime T-rex :(

I’m someone who busts ghosts for a living and I’d just like to say that we who do the busting of ghosts would like more accurate portrayals in movies. We are not as funny as bill Murray nor do we have laser guns, nor are we competent in anyways. Typically we are just 37 year old men pretending to be high schoolers who have a part time job as a manager at Subway and a tv show on either A&E or the Syfy channel

I blame William Atherton's portrayal of Walter Peck in this movie and 'Dick' Thornburg in 'Die Hard' for the fact that so many Americans hate environmentalists and journalists, thus making a hefty contribution to the past few year's political chaos in the USA. Not even joking.

@crazyduplicate3 жыл бұрын
Literally the worse fucking taste.
@maux77673 жыл бұрын
You know weirdly enough, I also reacted that way to Twinkies. Because they didn't used to be ubiquitous in the United States either, I grew up in the South and we were dominated by Little Debbie, which is like one of their competitors, so we didn't really get Twinkies when I was a kid. So I was an adult by the time I tried a Twinkie and I also hated it lol. BUT, I do have to say, Twinkies are kind of an acquired taste and I bizarrely was like, "I'm gonna give that another shot," and after the third one I not only liked it, but actually found myself craving it lol And I think it's because they don't necessarily taste the way you'd think they would based on how they look and so that initial tasting is just completely incongruent and you reject it. But you go into it prepared and your taste zeroes in on the good parts and suddenly you actually find yourself craving them. Hence their becoming a cultural touchstone and appearing in a lot of movies lol

Making a tax time joke as if more than 5% of your audience is above 18 lads. Personally I recommend making jokes about asking girls to a dance. Idk, I'm Aussie so I don't know what Americans do

What? I scoped this channel as being pretty dad-heavy. Possibly heavy dad-heavy as well. They cover a ton of movies and comic books from the 70s-90s. As a 46 year old American man, I find their content to fit pretty well with my demographic. The joke is even funnier because it's not like more than 5% of their audience is Australian. Tax time for Americans isn't for 7 months or so.

My head canon with the Thorazine is that it was Dana’s. It’s often prescribed as an anti-psychotic, and it’s possible that in the 3 days it took her to go to the Ghostbusters, she might have initially assumed she’d had a psychotic break. Her mother also asks her about it (seemingly) on the phone later. “No, uh, just the one time.” Also, having met Atherton, he’s one of the nicest celebs I’ve encountered. He was super gracious and embracing of Ghostbusters fans.
