Fast & Furious - Caravan of Garbage

The Fast & Furious 4 or what was simply titled Fast & Furious was an attempt to bring the franchise back to what made the original a success, two guys being mates. But not just any two guys, for the first time since 2001 Vin Diesels Dominic Torreto and Paul Walkers Brian O'Conner are back in the drivers seat to delieve a very okay sequel. Things certainly do improve with number five but to get there we gotta go through this. Thanks for listening to our Caravan Of Garbage review!

As someone who didn't know that the Fast Nights at the Furious franchise had done the "rename the sequel the same as the first one basically" thing for its fourth movie, I stared at the thumbnail for this video for like a minute and then spent the next minute watching the first minute of this video thinking, "wait, didn't they already do this one?"

As beloved as these movies are, they might be the worst TITLED franchise ever. This one, 2 Fast 2 Furious, the fact that they can't decide whether the keyword is Fast (Fast Five, Fast X) or Furious (Furious 7, Fate of the Furious)...the gall of these people to just have a movie called F9 and think they can get away with it.

Apparently Paul Walker’s Nissan Skyline R34 from this movie is going to be auctioned off very soon. According to the Bonhams website it’s reportedly in excellent condition, featuring a TV2 Bayside Blue paint job and a 2.6-liter twin-turbocharged in-line six-cylinder RB26 engine, and a laundry list of unique touches, including new intercoolers and exhaust modifications that bring the hp up to 550; OMP custom racing seats; a custom display for the MFD Xenarc Display unit; a custom-built roll cage; 19X11 Volk Racing RE30 wheels; and a Nismo Version II bumper with side skirts. Originally the car was scheduled to be scrapped as soon as filming had wrapped, and due to have all its parts harvested for other vehicles, but Paul Walker took it upon himself to actually purchase the car from the studio with his own money, a move which led many on the production crew to jokingly refer to it as the “Blue Harvest” which was ironically also the working title of the 1977 film Star Wars.

I think it’s really interesting that you mentioned the lizard guy because my uncle actually worked on this film and that was HIS lizard, he was called Gordon! My uncle took Gordon onto set everyday when he was decorating for specific scenes on location. Vin took a real shine to Gordon and would want to look after him between takes. My uncle found it difficult to take Gordon away from Vin and said it would feel like he was Harvesting Gordon every time he did so and Vin would feel Blue every time this happened. That lead to the working title of this film being… you guessed it… really fast cars or something I can’t remember 🤷🏻‍♂️

The original plot of this movie was Dom and Brian getting back together to source the parts to assemble Brian's blue Skyline. That lead the working title for the movie to be Blue Harvest.

I actually really quite like this film as a mid-level revenge thriller. I remember the advertising really drumming home that this was a combination of all the previous films together which is why we see really evident drifting in this film during the Brian Vs Dom race

FUN FACT: NOS's trademark blue canister and that fact that it's used by Dom to harvest some extra speed led to the working title of this movie being "Blue Harvest" which interestingly enough is also the working title for original Star Wars in 1977.

Fun fact: Initially the plan was to make the flames of the NOS more red and yellow in post production as the team thought it would look more exciting. However it was discoved that the color wasn't working well against the headlights of the cars. Eventually the SFX team decided it was better looking and cheaper to keep the original blue color of the NOS, under the color html "H4RV35T", this led to the working title of this film "Blue Harvest" which was also the working title for Star Wars Episode 6: Retutn of the Jedi.

Interesting thing about "Green Trivia" and Fast & Furious, _ff_ is html for the color green and _FF_ , short for the title Fast & Furious, is over saturated green, which many people with Red/Green color blindness have trouble with. Red/Green color blindness has caused some people difficulty with traffic lights as they were unable to distinguish between red and green, which some have theorized is why cars in the Fast and Furious franchise run so many red lights, leading to a blue tinge being added to the 'green' light on a traffic standard, this kind of addition, or "harvest" of blue color into a green light is why the movie had a working title of Blue Harvest

Fun fact: The original Script of the movie had them stealing the saphire from the Queen of England's Crown. Marketing behind the film talked about family jewels, and how the team had to "grab that Gem" to be able to make the Blue Harvest, which was the working title for this movie AND the original Starwars!

I'm pretty sure the reason you can't just use NOS for the entire race is that it puts a huge amount of strain on the engine, so it will pretty much explode if you use it for more than a few seconds at a time.

Sorry but this is actually the best one. As we all know there were only 7 Fast and Furious movies ever made - Fast 4 is the perfect middle movie as it merges the car racing of the first 3 movies with the heisting of the last 3 movies. It’s perfect and it’s my favorite.

The first one and Tokyo Drift were the highlights for me. I would have loved for them to go that direction with the rest of the movies, new characters for each film, a new focus on some street racer somewhere rising up from the streets and his/her personal struggles, and learning how to race in some new culture, etc. That would have been cool. Why can no one who talks about these movies understand this is a sequel to 2 Fast 2 Furious, not a "soft reboot" and not a direct sequel to the first movie. Brian is on good terms and working for the FBI because of his cooperation with them in Miami. He atoned for his crimes and decided to try and live straight. You can't cut 2 out of the time line then randomly introduce Tej and Roman in 5 like they've always been part of the family
