I think its a good idea if u can use it as a child lock at freezer or cabinet for safety purpose rather than just to hold a key..

If it can pop out 8 inches under spring power, and you almost dropped it the first time, why not turn it up instead of down? Also, you should clamp flat, thin metal stock in a vise vertically in the jaws and drill sideways. Theres not enough surface area on the edges to reliably hold the material to keep it from slipping and causing the drillbit to slip off and risking an injury.

I wish I had that smooth cutting thing because I have alot of things to cut but you don't cut everything just because you have that fancy cutting tool 😂. Removing only the plastic from the smaller part will give you a decent and sturdy bottle opener with ready holes to attach to a chain, string or to the larger part as you did and you can use it for keys as well.

Seems like a great deal of wasted effort, just to be able to eject your keys from an old seat belt fastener; why not simply hang them on a nail, or keep them in your pocket ???? If you enjoy puttering, simply for the sake of puttering, " go for it ".
