I just watched the 6 month review, so im back to watch the install. The editing, camera work and instructions in this was great! I'll have to hit up MRT at some point.

Thanks mate! Glad to hear the videos were helpful 🙂

Very well detailed, Daniel....looks like a winner. I'm sick of having to run around locking and unlocking 6 locks. Central locking for my MRT canopy has gotta be on the cards.

Great stuff. You have an excellent presentation presence, and your video editing skills are equally good. Your videos are pleasant to watch. Keep it up 👍

Proper influencer now, getting sponsorship 😉 glad the hard work is paying off for you guys! I convinced myself I didn't need central locking in my MRT canopy, and you've thrown a spanner into that plan 🤣

Thanks mate!! 🍻 Haha well I made do with the keys for a few years, but must say that pressing a button to unlock everything is pretty satisfying!

Looks interesting but my only concern is if it fails your canopy is locked no way in ?

Hi Sharon, it came with keys to manually unlock if need be :)

Nice one mate definitely something I want to do in the future, btw how is your canopy so clean on the outside
@explorebound3 жыл бұрын
Haha well I usually give it a scrub at the car wash after trips, and store it in the garage when not in use which helps :)

Good job 👍 Stuff like the holes not lining up does my head in....I don’t think it was so much that your canopy is old, I think that’s more the joys with Chinese manufacturing. They just don’t have good quality control when they’re making them to a price 😟 great video though champ 😉👍

Awesome vid as always. Definitely going to be investing in the central locking setup. Have you ever though about raptor coating your canopy?
@explorebound3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, sure have! I think black would offset the white quite nicely and raptor seems to be an easy to apply and hard wearing option 👍

Great video. Your videography and presentation style is seek adventure esk. Such an easy watch. Could one just use a battery in the canopy to activate the locks, as opposed to hacking up the canopy with a grinder lol.
@explorebound3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate, really appreciate that! Yep you could definitely power the locks with a battery, I just decided to cut the slot to demonstrate how to install the included power inlet, and also because I need power running in to charge my battery anyway, and I prefer the new inlet to my old connector because it fits flush. (I re-wired the power inlet shortly after this video so that the main purpose of the inlet is to run thick gauge wiring through to my DCDC charger inside the canopy, the central locking system is then tapped in to that).
@AusHalo33 жыл бұрын
What happeneds to the locks when you have the canopy locked and remove the power from the canopy? The looks of the mechanism looks to be a 12v solenoid that requires constant power to lock? If so what would the battery draw on 6 x 12v solenoids to keep the canopy locked
@explorebound3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, just ducked out to the garage to give that a test for you. Tested unplugging the power with the canopy locked and unlocked, there was no change either time when I removed the power. 👍
@jordanwalters9447 Жыл бұрын
Couldn't you just run it to the power that's in your canopy? so you can still use the central locking feature when it's not hooked up to your ute?
@explorebound Жыл бұрын
Yeah you can, that's how I've got my current version hooked up actually. The only downside is that if your battery in the canopy goes flat you better have a spare key with you. 🤣
@lachlanduncan69763 жыл бұрын
Can you wire it so the Trucks central locking opens the truck and the canopy?
@explorebound3 жыл бұрын
It would take a bit of customising but you certainly could :)

Another great video. I have the MRT 1800 on the back of my Navara. How much for the kit?
@explorebound3 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate! The kit I used in the video would be the same one you’d need and retails for $749 from MRT 🙂

Do you have an alarm system in your canopy as well?

Nah I've never had an alarm on my canopies, good idea though!

Whereabouts did you purchase your canopy from? Would you recommend it?
@explorebound3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gus, I bought the canopy from MRT and had it fitted by their team here in Perth. I would definitely recommend it, I've had it for just over 2 years now and have done a lot of trips with it - can't fault it! I actually did a full review of it if you're interested: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4e1fXiXj7d6r9k

Thank you for the time taken to make this video but these old T locks are terrible as they have some design flaws, the thread that rotates with the T handle is missing half it's threads and the adjustment nuts are way to thin consequently the threads stop out way to easily, the compression whale tail locks are far superior.
