Bro I just got my starter locs Valentine's Day and had a interview two days later and the interviewer told me "I like your hair. It's a neat look on you. My son use to have his hair the same way" and I got the job so my first experience has been a great one!

It's definitely been amazing. I thought my grandma would hate it and even she said it looks good 😂😂 that shocked the heck out of me so yea it's been nothing but a wonderful experience so far and I expect nothing but wonderful experiences with this journey. This is a much needed video. Being black and growing my locs while searching for a job, I always worry. I have 2 degrees but I know people look at locs different. At the end of the day, my family comes first so if I have to, I guess I’d cut my locs for my wife and daughter. Thank you these videos and your insight And if they come at you, you have every right to roast them lol

People look at everything. Good looking people have an advantage. If you have a missing tooth, weight 400 lbs, wear old clothes from another decade, tattoos on your face or hands, dreads, you will be working from a deficit. You are working to get back to even where you should be. You wanna have dreads then be an artist, work in advertising, work for a company that services black clients. It's a pride thing and it's stupid, you are only hurting yourself.

10K 👀 , Great topic! , so i work in a pharmacy as a pharmacy technician so i wear the scrubs but also got the locs, i always thought it was going to be an issue the way i looked, (nose piercings, septum , tattoos ,BLACK✊🏾and DREADS. But i noticed i got so many compliments on my hair and people asking genuine questions, and when i cut them so many MORE people were saying how they loved my hair and i should get them back. Its just so funny the things people notice negative or positive that they dont ever rlly say until later. I am often refered to as the black guy or the guy with dreads but, it dosen’t bother me both are TRUE both are BEAUTIFUL 💯👑

Going in medical buisness as a black man with locs. Still in university going for the major in physical therapy where there’s mostly white people who seems to be pretty superficial. I started my locs to challenge their perception about us Black peoples embracing our hair heritage in a western society. Yet I feel like it’s more challenging from me the more my locs grows. Sometimes I want to cut them but I feel in my soul that God’s telling me to carry on! Walking by Faith not Fear!

I appreciate this so much. Growing up in Jamaica I always wanted locs but the school system and just the society in general would not accept it. Now at college in the states I’m growing my hair out. I am still concerned about losing opportunities before I even open my mouth solely based on the way I look and how I choose to express myself. So videos like these really motivate me.

I’m taking a few moments to say thank you because you have motivated me to be a better person. I’ve been following you for the last year now but I’ve also went back and watched most of your old videos too. I’ve had locs for over a year and I love them. I’ve been at my job for 15 years and make over 100K/yr and it’s funny that within the 1-2 years co-workers start acting different bc of my appearance. Racism will never die. Anyway, I’m grinding everyday and I will not let down my wife and daughter. Keep up the success bro!

Man I have been in the Architecture world for 3 years. When I started the loc journey I was a year in. I can tell you this, IF YOUR WORK SPEAKS FOR ITSELF, YOU'LL BE OK. I always try to stand out from the rest (even if my black skin doesn't do that already). I tore up the architecture world my 1st (2) years, now I am a project manager (only 28). I look at it as, my hair is a tool that makes me grind harder. My white counterparts didn't show discrimination towards my hair choice even if they did, they couldn't deny my work. I just 2 stranded twisted my hair this morning, let's see how they react lol.

I appreciate this. Reason being I am scheduled to do an internship, I am in your field, I am 8 months in my journey. I can’t help but worry a bit about being accepted with my hair. As a young international foreign black male the odds are already stacked against me. It took bravery to grow my hair as growing up in Jamaica we could never dare to have hair on our heads. @@ashanebeckford1644 To be honest, I just stayed myself. I didn't let them know if I was uncomfortable in a room, definitely when I needed that retwist. Starting off on my journey my 1st 6months was beyond rough. Had a lot of breakage but I just stayed true to the process. Also make sure you stand out at your firm. Be the first person in and last person out. Always ask questions and always offer help to your co workers. If you build a rapport, then your hair will be the last thing they'll focus on. Mr. Love, I watched TP Locks also b4 he had to cut his locks and start over and the brother addressed locks and corporate America. I think the Crown Act has helped somewhat but we need to push the agenda of locks in the corporate world a bit more. As a parent of a college student (son) with long 2 strand twist like dreads, which he doesn’t want to cut anytime soon, it’s so difficult to explain to him why he can’t start a job with locks., and that it would be better to do it while already employed. Honestly, I’m afraid my brilliant son 3.5 average in college will not be able to get a job when he graduates due to discrimination towards his choice of hairstyle. I know I’m going on a bit but, thank you for allowing me to vent. Peace and Blessings

I work for a company that is based out Germany. I have semi freefrom locks 🔒. The CEO did not care what my hair looked like...all he wanted to know was, can I operate machinery with precision. I'm one of the lucky one's 😌. The stories I've heard from other natty brothas & sistas are ctazy

Honestly I’m 3 months strong. My in laws hate my hair long. And very judge mental. Me and my wife are the only minorities under their roof. I feel anxious and feel like I’m judged based on my hair. It’s hard to not care but no one can tell me or do something if it’s not my own choice.

Freeform locs are harder, especially if you have a wife and kids, can't let it grow free, have to get it done by loctician, and that is hard, especially if you wanted to do true free form
