Evolution bikes in whistler is outstanding. rented a Santa Cruz v10 from them for a week and during that time i ripped off a derailed, destroyed a free hub but both times staff were super helpful and got me out on the hill pithing 20 minutes. Nothing but good things to say about them, great system for renting bikes, friendly staff, amazing bikes that were impeccably maintained. Seriously you can't go wrong with them.

QUESTION..... Im planning to move to COLORADO in 2020 because Hiking & Mountain biking is my life... Now which city would you guys recommend to move to....I've been to CRESTED BUTTE & TELLURIDE in which I BOTH loved.... Anywhere with less snow that's not DESERTY looking.
@MrTonka5 жыл бұрын
Hard to get less snow without dessert conditions. But the front range might be a good option. Denver has pretty mild winters most of the time. And really so does Silida. I’m told that most winters you’re only snowed out of the trails for a matter of weeks. But then there is the odd winter where the trails were snowed out for months. Make mountain biking and snowboarding you’re life and the problem is solved. 😬

Rubbing the rear tire is pretty scary! Glad you weren't jumping :-)
@MrTonka5 жыл бұрын
It's pretty easy to do and easy to fix, which is kind of the point. They know how much travel the rear wheel has and how much clearance it needs. But they set it up for a smaller, lighter person which resulted in tire buzzing. I raised the seat a bit as well. As long as i didn't case stuff too bad, it wouldn't buzz on jump landings.
@TrailBreaker5 жыл бұрын
Mr Tonka Rentals can be a crap shoot! If it’s coil I guess all you can do is increase the preload (I’ve actually never tried a DH bike) and do what you did. After a bad crash in Bentonville on a poorly set up Remedy I now bring my shock pump and check it out first. So worth 10 minutes😊👊

Cool to see you on a DH bike plowing through the rough chunk! If you could do the whole bike selection at Whistler again, what would you bring/rent, and from where if renting?
@MrTonka5 жыл бұрын
I'd rent from Whistler Sports. Probably go with a Santacruz V10 29er. If i lived there i'd probably ride that place on a SB160, but dealing with so much chunk at much higher speeds, i think a 29er DH bike would be welcoming.

Great video! Good to see Alex is still amongst the living. Top of the World looks epic. Just one thing though...no one in your group was carrying a pump? You had to stop your ride because the communal bike park pump failed and let the air out of your tire? WTF?
@MrTonka5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yep, he's still kicking around, haha. Actually someone from the FL crew had a pump that worked which got it to 25psi. But yeah, the Creekside Gondola pump is an air compressor and when i hooked it up i opened the compressor valve and heard a bunch of air, tried again and figured it just wasn't sealing up on the valve but maybe some air was going in. Turns out it was all the air coming out! Duh. Then someone from Whistler told me that pump head was busted. Could have used that info about 3 min earlier. haha
