2011 Charger Blender door actuator troubleshoot and replace

The charger is making a loud clicking noise from under the dash

i have ac cold air out the drivers side(its summer), and hot af air out the passenger side...glad you pointed out which actuator does what!

Just for anyone wondering about the actuators differences there are none they are all interchangeable so that's why they only have one in stock. 😁👍🏿

Excellent excellent MARVELOUS walkthrough When I turn my dodge charger 2014 on, as of a month ago, I hear a clicking noise under driver side dashboard and it goes away after 30 seconds until the next time I turn it on. I love this video I’m positive it’s my blend doors malfunctioning.

Once everything was open, I'd want to change both - just to be sure, but since you made this video the actuators are now $80-$90 from Mopar! There's also a service bulletin for a re-flash of the door controls that came out in 2019. I want to have that done before I change the actuators. Thanks for the insights!

I changed the same one you did on the driver side. (Lost one screw… oh well) but it solved the problem. Now I did the one on the passenger (left one) and it did not fix the problem it’s always cold 🥶 and in this weather it fogs up half my front windshields

You may have another problem with power coming into the actuator or something is binding.

@@MaxAC I believe you may be right I keep hearing the actuator move and I hear resistance over and over. I can’t afford to take into the dealer at the moment with their $140 hour rate

I went to a mechanic about year ago and he said the blend door actuator was stuck in the open position and my AC fuse was melting. However, I have never heard any clicking. Does the actuator have to click if it’s broken?

I bought a doorman brand actuator and it had instructions on resetting I guess the motors or some like that to the actuator is that needed ?

Is it the top one you changed or the bottom I can’t really tell my heater is blowing cold on the driver side and backseat

Right after i fixed the passenger side actuator it trigger the driver side one for some reason, are they somehow connected to eachother?

@Max AC on most videos I watched, people turned on the AC or heat to test which actuator was bad. My car has clicking noises both with the AC or heat on and without. Im not sure if it makes the clicking noise while the car is off and Im away from it but there is always clicking noise that starts as soon as I open the door and about on average of every 3 minutes while driving. I went under and removed both from the passenger side and after 2 days of short testing by shortly driving around one hasn't clicked at all and one clicked once. Does that sound different to you that it would click with no AC/heat on?

Mine wouldn't really click with the ac on but it would click whe the car was shut off after about 2 min.

​@@MaxACI just removed the drivers side actuators today which was so hard. I had already removed the passenger side ones so I officially have none in at all. I think all 4 were bad because all 4 had a clicking noise. The part you have that moves when you turn the AC on and test , I'm not sure I have that. On yours the part that was moving was big enough for you to see it but on mine whatever is behind it is small and in the center so I can't see if it moves or not. With no actuators at all the result is no clicking noise but no hot air on the relative side that it was removed, so when I removed the passenger side ones no hot air on the passenger side.

Hey we have a 2011 charger and on the passenger side sometimes it will work where we set the temp and sometimes it does the opposite. Like this morning turned on hot drivers is hot but passengers is cold but sometimes it the opposite do you think it’s the blend door actuators? Don’t hear clicking but once in a blue moon I think

Yes these wouldn't always click either but it was just intermittent. But I can't guarantee it's the actuators. It could be the passenger side temp control not sending the signal that it needs to be hot/cold. The dual climate control can be tricky to troubleshoot. The good thing is from underneath you can see the actuator arms moving when you move the selector.

How do you know which one to change if none of them make that clicking noise? I have a 13 Daytona and the passenger side everything works right but the driver side only blows cold air!

If you remove the lower panel and have someone actuate the controls you should be able to look up and see the arm move. I hope you are tiny and flexible There isn't much room

I have yet to figure out how to apply pressure to the torx bit while simultaneously turning the ratcheting wrench. This must require small hands. I already lost one bit somewhere inside the dash.

My dodge charger is blowing hot air only. I remember it being cold in the am and I turned the knob to the red(hot) then in the afternoon I went to turn it to the blue(cold) but nothing. I can’t hear anything now under the dash so I don’t know which one I should change… hopefully I will after the video is over. Otherwise if you have any suggestions they’re greatly appreciated.

@@Gabby_a.k.a._PuroJohnK if it's blowing hot and there is no clicking or grinding noise it could be that your refrigerant system is low. You might have that checked also.

The refrigerant is full. I think I can hear some sound coming from the actuator but very faint. I am going to change the blend door actuator. See if it works. Thanks for the video and reply.
