Hey there gang ! Here is a close up of my current rig. This will help you understand the system of an OCD HiFi guy as compared to a normal "Dealer" system. As you can see there are 3X the speaker cables, and 4X the power cables, and the addition of an active crossover which means 4 x the interconnects. aside from all the extras the end result is stunning and tuned for the room and my listening style ... Next video, I will demonstrate the rig and different types of music . :-)
SEE ya...... !

Wow. All this attention to detail at every possible component in the system is what makes all the difference in the final product be so audible. Just using a different power cable or different interconnects in a system do not make enough of a difference. I think OCD is quite an understatement at this level. Must sounds incredible!

I thought I and my cohorts were insanely driven in the late 70's when we used 7 Hiel Airmotion Transformers per side in a line array configuration to overcome dispersion inadequacies with Triamping! But Sir you are the King of Crazy! I love your zeal in personalizing ever detail to your desired outcome! That is what I call serving your beast/master! From Shout at the devil to Running with the devil! Best of luck, I burned out by the late 80's but live on through Videos like yours! Thank you for your dedication!

I enjoy this video, but personally I made my life easy; a simple tube amp, full range speakers with subwoofer and good analog for less than $10k in total! Enjoy my lp collection and forget about expensive cables and room treatment.

Can you put the switch in another room away from all of those devices, If you move your computer and the playback designs media converter too you'll just need to run a longer fiber cable to the DAC. That would cut down on RF and EMI leaking from the power supplies to other devices.

Looks very good. And if you put an external LPSU on your JCAT usb xe card and your OS HDD then you again get a lot more good sound. (Another Keces or JCAT LPSU for example) Nice to see someone finally doing it properly. And you can also put another good LPSU on your Playback reclocker. Plus your router...

The rack in the back of your system, did make that? The shelves look to be ripped plywood, the columns look sweet. Can you provide some info'?

Great Video Mikey. Always great learning about different brands I'm not familiar with. I will be looking into the product that is offered by Fidelizer for power supplies and network switches. What are the network cables you use in your system?

Mikey, most of this is over my head. Your knowledge of our "hobby" is off the charts, and quite frankly, staggering. Being in my "golden years", I would like to build a simple system in the first quarter of next year, using your knowledge and some of your products (love the AGD) gan amps! So glad I subscribed to your channel about 6 mos ago. Keep up the excellent content and BTW I like Your version of what a system does as opposed to the "big guy"!

Who's the "he" that designed the crossover? It looks impressive. I have the Analysis Omega model, also active, but I've never felt I needed an outboard tweeter. The stock one is better than my hearing

Isn't glass optical limited to 24/96? Max Townshend told me that except for longer runs of cable, I should always go with RCA connectors. Max went on to explain single ended connection is more pure and true to the signal, as a balanced connections goes through extra circuitry and should be avoided if possible in our hifi. XLR invented for much longer runs of cables for studios
@jaakanshorter
@jaakanshorter 2 жыл бұрын
You're thinking of TosLink. This cable is basically what you would use for networking. It supports higher sample rates like with DSD on that port. ST = Single Tip ie the connecter end not the cable type or fiber class.
@Metranger-xd4bt
@Metranger-xd4bt 2 жыл бұрын
@@jaakanshorter Thank you. And you are right. I was thinking of Toslink. Are the connectors on the ST cable the same as a Toslink? I always thought that 75 ohm wire(or close to 75) was better than glass. Hmmm.

I too have Hallografhs. Any tips for placement?
@OCDHIFiGuy
@OCDHIFiGuy 2 жыл бұрын
You will want someone standing behind the Hallagraphs and moving them 1/8" at a time inward then out until you hear a clear vocal reflection which will help center and anchor your vocal. Its clear and unmistakable when it hits ... I like them behind and inside a little, though I have dipole panels, regular speakers may work better next to and outside the speakers. You may call Shakti and just ask... ;-)

Wow !! that is some rig. Very impressive to say the least. Freakin' complex - definitely took some putting together. Couple of questions. Given that this rig must be capable of resolving detail to the max, is it now possible to identify the different guitars used on the Carlos Santiago "Careless Whisper" instrumental track ? How much of an impact, if any, do all the cables and connectors have on the system sound ? Have a nice day. Cheers.

You have comments turned off on the video about those two brands you ditched. At the end you mentioned that the "chinese brand" was ok; not great and that you have similar priced and better DACs. Care to mention what? I'm in the hunt.
