I have a Neil story and its about this song. I loved it when I was little. I was 5, my dad paid for front row seats. As he sang other songs I was on my seat yelling "Sweet Caroline" as loud of my 5yr old voice would go..he finally stopped halfway through a song and said.."ok..this is for the little girl in the front row" he came off the stage, stood in front of me and sang it to me..well with me actually during the chorus..those were the only words I knew..I was 5. Anyway..thought you might get a smile from my little story and it says something about him as a person..it was a very sweet thing to do.
@donaldcook31123 жыл бұрын
Hello Robin , I do believe we will all get " more than a smile " from your quite lovely story - that is ' N E I L " all over . And that is such a large part of his (shared) humanity and love. And so much else aside . I was blessed to see him 27 times between June '77 in London and October '17 in Glasgow ( I live in the far north of England ) and even twice at the Greek Theatre in L.A. in August '12 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of ' HOT AUGUST NIGHT '. Blessed to have had front few row seats many times - THANK YOU 'I.G.' in London, you know who you are , looked Neil both 'man to man' and 'eye to eye' - I almost always wore the same garnet red fleece zipper ... I do believe he recognised me in those few seconds . He knew in a look just how very, very much he means to us all . A deeply instinctively intelligent man and artist .

I took her to this concert because I just had to say I saw him live and wanted us to have the memory. We were the youngest people there I think. Hartford Civic Center. I spent a lot of money on the tickets through a bookie just so I could get very very close. It was a fantastic show, in the round during the Christmas holiday and he took a break in the middle of the show to sing a half hour of Christmas and Hanukkah songs. Great memories for sure.

I’ve seen Neil perform live at least three times that I can recall (Philly, NYC, and Vegas). My ex-mother in law loved his duet with Barbra Streisand “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers”. My favorite is “Forever in Blue Jeans”. After 9/11, Neil played Madison Square Garden in NYC. It was the first concert I’d attended after 9/11, and one of first major events after NYC opened up again. We got there just after he’d started performing. His first song was “America”. Behind him was a giant American flag. I was one among many who were crying. It was an incredible show and an incredible moment. The man is legendary. He’s got at least two Christmas albums out, and the first one is one of my favorites. Amazing man. 💜💜💜 Oh, and he used to do a Christmas show every year. 💜

This is from approximately 1970, I think it's the show he did at the BBC TV studio, this was when he was in his prime. Neil has a very deep catalog of outstanding songs. Please listen to something, anything, from "Tap Root Manuscript", one of his many masterpiece albums.
