One of the reasons Gorillaz was created was because the creators (a musician and a comic book artist) felt that the music industry was oversaturated with fake personalities that detracted from the music. The next time we got together he pick Clint Eastwood, and he got called up. The screen said "Singer one" in blue and "singer two" in green. My first instinct was to criticize you for taking so long to realize rap is poetry. . . But no, I can’t let myself be negative. I’m happy for you and encourage you to listen to more hip hop. I think just like any genre, it’s hard to jump into a pool and not know where to start. You want to dip yer toe, but still don’t know which part of the pool to dip the toe in. It’s how I feel about jazz, or classical music, or bob dylan (the first rapper). I think just find an artist you like and start with the first album and just go in order. I’ve been obsessed with bob dylan for more than a decade and still have not got past his fifth album yet. For rap I would just throw these names your way . . . Hieroglyphics, latyrx, blackalicious, madvillain, Kendrick Lamar, Joyner lucas, and of course the beastie boys.

Welcome to the world of Gorillaz! You opened a rabbit hole with this one, have any questions? LOL small blurb - Gorillaz are a British virtual band created in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett. Damon is the voice you talked about for 2D the singer, and Jamie Hewlett is the artist of the band. They have lots of guest artists like Snoop Dogg, Elton John, oh so many. They are the SHIT. The band primarily consists of four animated members: 2-D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs. Their fictional universe is presented in music videos, interviews and short cartoons. Noodle plays the guitar and the green buy on base guitar is Murdoc the creator of the band "Virtually". There is a huge story line to them that they keep going to this day about the characters of the band. In this video the big blue gorillaz are dancing the dance from Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video. Once someone points it out you will notice right away. So fun!

I still remember this being my first Gorillaz song ever. I remember how I was sitting up watching Adult Swim and they played this music video along with Daft Punk's entire Interstellar 5555 movie. Fell in love with both that night. Another great song about the music industry using their singers would be Panic at the Disco's "Hey look Ma I made it" music video.
