In this vid I demonstrate on how to turn a standard vacuum power valve into a boost referenced or blow thru power valve to "push" the fuel circuit vs. pull by vacuum. Each PV spring is rated in Hg which in turn is double air pressure. Example, and 5.5 hg would equal 2.25 lbs of pressure to open the plunger and spring rating. I hope this helps save a few dollars and will give you the necessary fuel your motor builds.

@@TheHotrodman2 Yes, and still currently working amazing. You may need to a different Hg spring in ur power valve up or down. I’m using 6.5hg which equate to half of lbs, meaning it starts to open at 3.25 lbs. I’m running twin 6 lbs of boost and just fine for my application. I recommend a 6.5hg power valve first. Let me know what ur running and what works for u.

@@OperationRV I actually just built power valve like yours , it is a 750 double pumper Holley , going to run it on a 5.3 ls , done a hanger 18 style modification on carb . Haven’t tried it yet . Thought your idea here was cool and if it worked good was going to try it . With few extra modifications. Thanks for the reply .

I am trying to understand the boost reference thing so sorry for the beginner question. But do you also have to drill the carb and run a vacuum line to the intake below the blower if you do this? I’m setting up a roots style blower. Right now I have an un modified carb and I’m running very rich. I assume as I lean it out it will fall on its face without the boost referencing

No worries! This is how I build a boost referenced power valve for the valve portion. I also have a couple videos of me building my blow through 2 barrel carburetor but it’s not a roots style. If your running really rich then maybe reduce your jet size unless you mean you running rich at wide open throttle. Please confirm. In my case, running 6lbs boost at WOT cause me to lean out therefore needed to increase fuel from my power valve. This is where I needed to build the boost power valve.
