@@RipHunter-l7x So with Oculink, the external gpu is effectively detected as native PCIE at system boot? Mainly concerned about stability/compatibility with Linux. Oculink is completely foreign to me.

They got rid of the internal pci slot? And the high speed ports? Fucking ruined. I wonder if Intell paid minis forum to nurf the amd version? It wouldn’t be the first time they pulled some shit like that

I'm surprised that he says nothing about ryzen 7900x and 7950x that will work in this setup?
@heirtothethrone0002 ай бұрын
I would think because they are not 65w CPUs and Minisforum has its own bios so you probably can't change the wattage to 65w like in the Windows bios unless there is some third party software to do it
@NitekTech2 ай бұрын
@@heirtothethrone000 true but minusforum talks about adding 7900x or 7950x im adding 7900x3d in mine once my ram shows up tomorrow and see how it runs with egpu 4090 cant wait if all works.

@@NitekTechhey I am curious to know how it performs with that CPU. My device is on its way and will take a month to get to me . I am in splits about which CPU to use . Would be great if you could comment back on your set up

@@anks0203 the unit max is 100w to any of the 7000 series chips I contacted minis forum I set the. Power to auto in the bios which is delete key to get into it and set up other ways 75w max and auto they both run at 66watts I have for higher than that so I contacted them about. It runs fine but it should be a 100w I monitor the temps and everything fine so I guess that the way it is

test linux, please 🙏🙏🙏 something like chimeraOS or Bazzite would be perfect

This has no reason to exist. A normal miniPC with a laptop APU will do the same for a lot less money. The only advantage is to use a desktop CPU but you pay with memory performance which is a huge letdown.

Do you know of a good looking, compact and affordable Oculink dock suitable for the A2000 Low Profile. The One Dock V2 and the Ogre250 look great but they are small production and very high price.

could you drop an 7800x3d, and always use the oculink gpu attached for display?
@Sup_D2 ай бұрын
It's probably caped for only 65W TDP AM5 processors. So, no 7800X3D won't work, as it's 120W. But you can instead go with the non-X variants like 7600, 7700 & 7900, and run an oculink gpu. And if MinisForums provides BIOS update, then maybe even upcoming 9600X & 9700X (both have 65W TDP).
@heirtothethrone0002 ай бұрын
The 7700 non X would work or the 7900 but unless you are gonna use the eGPU for more than gaming, I would just stick with what's in it

funny, with a ITX board 8600g with a RX580 with 6400 DDR5 ram...is as good as the unit with OCU link. That RAM that can only go up to 5200 is a waste of time and money.
