Thanks for taking care of people with MS! That is such an important work to do! I am a yoga therapist, in Saint Louis, and I specialize in helping people with MS. I can see the improvements in my students after just a few months! It is amazing when students realize they can improve their health condition just by learning to focus on their body and recover balance, flexibility and strength (and confidence as a natural result!). Thanks again!

By the end of the week, you will have a full-body strengthening routine that you'll get to keep using forever. I'll provide the sign up link below. All of the fitness professionals that do something focusing on MS are amazing!! I do go to the gym but only on the weekends, as it is too much on me to go on work days. There are some days that my body won't, or my MS, won't cooperate with my plans for the gym. I have been looking for something to do at home and stretches for when everything is tight and/ or when I'm having spasms. I joined the gym in hopes of delaying disability and regaining strength I've lost; needless to say, I feel discouraged when I'm not able to go. Thank you for thinking of the MS community!! ❤💪👍

So good! Why does my neck always hurt with crunches?
@MSWorkouts3 жыл бұрын
Hi E W, if your neck hurts during the crunch then it's likely because your neck is trying to help you during the exercise - which we want to avoid! You can try placing your hand(s) underneath your head to support it. Let your neck and head sink & relax into your hand(s). Focus on crunching, leading the movement with your TORSO, not your neck and head. You can also allow your gaze to wander up towards the ceiling - this will help to keep you from using your neck & head in the crunching motion. You should NEVER feel pain while exercising. Thanks for stopping by the channel :-)

What does ab crunches have to do with balance? My balance has to do with attacks on my inner ear.
@MSWorkouts4 жыл бұрын
Hello Carolyn! Hope all is well. Torso and abdominal strength is an important aspect of balance. Not only does muscular strength give you the ability to control movements better but in case you do lose your balance due to other factors such as inner eye issues you are much more likely to be able to control your body. Best wishes and positive thoughts that your inner ear attacks subside!

Useful but he makes no mention for advanced PPMS people who only have one sided movement/ strength. I feel comfortable adapting ( like lying on my bed and exercising) because I can no longer get on the floor. I wonder how people with far less body awareness of their limitations know how to recognize what is safe and what is too much muscle fatigue that triggers spasms.Still useful to watch.

Can’t do ab crunch. I feel it in my neck rather than abs, i.e. my neck gets tired much faster than ab. Do you have any tips? Thanks a lot in advance.
@MSWorkouts5 жыл бұрын
Hello Leigh! Hope you and yours are doing wonderful. Great question and this is one that actually comes up often when challenging yourself regarding Ab Exercise. Your neck begins to get fatigued and tries to take over once the abs start to fatigue. The body starts to try and use your head as help in adding momentum to the equation of the exercise. First try to simply tilt your head back so that your eyes gaze towards the ceiling and your spine remains in a "neutral" position. If this doesn't alleviate the discomfort you can place your hands behind your head to add support to it while continuing the flexion and extension movement with your torso (AKA allowing the abs to continue to exercise). If this does not alleviate the discomfort simply stop the exercise and record how far you got before feeling the discomfort and having to stop. Listening to our bodies and simply taking what it will give us with our best effort and attention to proper form, recovering, then reapplying will lead to progression! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your journey to strength and please give us feedback regarding how it goes!

@MSWorkouts6 жыл бұрын
Hi Kevin, I hope you are doing well. Cramping can be caused by many different factors such as mineral imbalances in your body, dehydration, as well as other neurological impedances / impairments. We would suggest hydrating adequately and visiting with your physician about other possible approaches that are personalized to you and your physiological state. We would also suggest if you have been released to exercise by your physician to do so. Try out our free Strength Camp! Due to MS, my body can't do any of this exercise. Do you think do exercise with an indoor bike would help me?
@MSWorkouts5 жыл бұрын
Hey Star Cat, bicycling is great cardiovascular exercise, but it is not for gaining strength. We recommend consulting with your physician or PT about incorporating strength training exercises that are attuned to you. At MSworkouts.com we do have a guided membership program that has entire entry-level classes and series that are likely attuned to your level. Speak to your medical practitioner about it, and let them tell you whether it would be a good fit for you or not.

My neck pains while doing this. Abs, diaphragm breathing all ok, but neck is where i break down, even after 30 sec.

Hi Shruti Ghate, if your neck hurts while performing the crunch then try placing your hand(s) underneath your head to support it. Thanks for stopping by our channel and we hope that you're doing well!

Hey there, I’m a member at msworkouts.com but was browsing the channel for more tips on core strength and balance. The exercises in this video are ideal but I suffer with terrible vertigo and cannot lie flat on my back, I need to support my head at almost a 45 degree angle or I get EXTREMELY nauseated and dizzy. Could you suggest some modifications to the crunch and hip bridge, because I’d really like to get my core toned as well as improve my balance. Great resource 👍💜☺️

Hi Jen! =D Since you are already a part of the membership, we would suggest performing other workouts we have on there that hit the same muscle groups. For example, for core, utilize the Weak Core I Series (which allows you to target the core completely from a seated position). In place of the Hip Bridge, we would suggest performing the Kickback, Leg Curl, and Plank Swim. All these exercises will target the same muscles groups, but not from the lying-flat-on-the-floor position. I will provide the links below. Let me know if you have any other questions! Hope this helps =) tv.msworkouts.com/programs/weak-core-1-exercise-series tv.msworkouts.com/programs/kickback-standing-series tv.msworkouts.com/programs/leg-curl-standing-series tv.msworkouts.com/programs/plank-swim-standing-series

Hey Nancy, a typical workout at Practical Fitness is from $50-$75 depending on commitment. For folks living with MS we extend our lowest rate of $50 per session. The sessions are 100% private, 1000 sq. ft of state of the art equipment, just you and the trainer. Even if you cannot continue after the free session you should come by anyways just so we can meet you. Since we understand that not everyone can afford those costs we created an online exercise video service called MSWorkouts.com Their you can find 100+ exercises that increase mobility, improve your sleep and add strength to your body. If you're serious about exercise and aren't near or can't afford our physical locations then MSworkouts.com is a great place for you to get the training you need.
