Exactly, whats the point in having a fancy van if in the end its still just a van? All a van needs is 4 wheels, an engine and a load of space in the back cos all theyre made for is lugging stuff around. For the same price as that one transit you can get a much nicer car and have loads of cash spare for an older transit that will do everything just as well and probably be even more reliable!

The van should win if you take out the load partition/bulkhead.That way you can load bigger objects by folding down the back seats. That's what I do on my transporter combi!

Love that MS-RT Transit. Wish we could get it in the States. It’s obviously modified but it’s not gaudy and it’s the perfect companion to your Focus RS or Fiesta ST

I picked up with amarok 2 years ago policarbonat roof which is 2.1 m x 4 m .And a lot of brick and whistle , and a lot of mud . I can bring a lot of things just use creativity. One time i bring my brother giant furniture which is hung out of trunk of the car . I think a littlebit better than van .

Pick ups are great if you don't like your tools and want them to disappear. They are also great for carrying a washing machine to the dump. That's about it.

@scottN1980 Jeeps & vehicles like Land Cruisers, GLE, X5,...still have lower loading capacity, and are far more expensive than pick ups. The pick ups are quite useful when bed is properly equipped, unlike this tested one.

@@igorm.7198 You kit out the pickup with hard top canopy and sliding bed draws etc. Then you're £3k + down, and it's still less room than a van. And it drinks like a fish. Pickups are good for towing, off roading, and towing off road. The cargo bed is where you chuck your shit, but it's not the purpose of the vehicle, that's what vans are for.

I know a couple of people who own the msrt, the biggest problem is as pretty as it is, it's too low, both guys have had trouble when taking them on site, especially with the front bumper. My boss owns an Amaroc, it's a hell of a lump, trying to get heavy gear in the back is a pain because the height of the tailgate, the cab has a really annoying echo when you're talking and obviously you can't get much in the back (securely). I've got the Transit sport crew cab which to be honest I'm well happy with, apart from I need a roof rack for long materials.

I'm in love with the msrt tranivan definatly a motor I would love to have my midlife crisis over hopefully msrt and ford do one with performance ev potential using mach E power train im a petrol head at heart but can help but think how good a full ev with a 350bhp motor with about 300miles range with msrt styling

T Ro I spend more time in my work van than my personal vehicles so I think it is worth spending profit. It enhances my life to rocket my modded work van up an on-ramp bumping that BASS on my way to a job.

Not if it's a 3/4 ton truck. Then you can pull gooseneck trailers. but they don't sell them in Europe so all trucks in Europe are useless

Only tiny trucks in Europe and Asia, you want to pull a 13,000 lbs (5900kg) boat or horse trailer, only a pick-up can do that.

Is the panel that seperates the back compartment from the front removable? This would be cool without that panel and without the back seats. That whole panel is a waste of space period. I understand you're talking about transporting toxic goods and whatnot but I'd hope it would be optional is all.

You can upgrade the bed of the pick up truck by installing the roll bar and the bed extension. The bed extension gives you an extra 50 cm of bed length, and you use the roll bar as a tie down point for any type of cargo. I am driving a 10 ft ladder in my Navara this way, no issues.

One thing you did not mention in your review is the unladen weight of these vehicles. I think you will find the Amarok is over the 2060 kg limit, so on normal roads will have a 50 mph speed limit and 60 mph on dual carriageways.., Don't know about the Transit but worth checking. In terms of reliability, the Transit is getting a very poor reputation, timing belts, injectors etc. Ford have publicly stated they are adding 1000 Vans to their loan fleet to cover recalls for the injectors, makes you think...

the pick up personally for me isn't the most comfiest thing for work been driving one for just over a year only that i have the Nissan Navara and you normally end up having tools boxes on top of toolboxes and it ends up being very uncomfortable on site when you need something small which is under everything and you keep having to move everything trying to get one screwdriver for example.

@@petedrake1 yh I like VWs cars through I had a nice white sciroco 2.0tdi remapped it was a rocket I have a sprinter recovery truck auto its remapped and is fast for a recovery truck but best in a straight line but in the bends traction control kicks in to early kills the fun so I'd take a sprinter for a motorway blast and a custom or new transit for the best allrounder I dont hate transporters but there just push mens Van's for glamping

We tune those Amaroks past 400hp all the time, 4.8s to 60. Love them! We are converting one to a 4.2 V8 TDi for 600hp.

I've got a Renault Trafic and I love it. Lots of miles in it every day and it's super comfortable. Had the previous gen too and this is better for sure. I had a Nissan Navara for about year. Terrible motor. Terrible ride. Terrible gearbox. Terrible offroad too. And so impractical. Even the rear seating area. No hook for bags etc. All your stuff would just slide across the back. The load bed wasn't much better either. Great for a dirt bike but not great for dirt bike gear. I'll be sticking with a van for the foreseeable.

It'll be because when they told VW press office what they were doing vw knew if they sent the 2.0tdi it wouldn't win the power tests and they also knew the ford only has a 2.0tdci as its most powerful option.

Vans are far more practical and this Transit looks proper! Could never really see the point of pick ups, you put stuff in the back and it'll either get nicked or all flies out when you hit a humpback bridge to quick (or slam the anchors on!)

Who the hell thinks, "you know what? I'm going to buy a 40 thousand pounds van with body kits on it, leather interior and 210bhp to use for work", carry cement, dry wall, all the things that you don't want in a 40k vehicle... there's a reason most vans are cheap, because they are for work, if you can buy a 1.6 hdi (now 1.5hdi) or a 2.0hdi, you buy that, fuel economy is good, they're great engines, no one in their right mind buys a van thinking of it being good on track... for 40k you can get a good reliable and cheap to maintain diesel van and a fun and as fast as that van sports car

Comparing a pick up to a van? That's probably the most work they've done in a while. Oh well. Turn up in a 40k vehicle and they think your making too much, and old wreck and they'll think your a cowboy. What you wan is somewhere in between, a tidy but modest van, or pick up with some nice sign writing on. Fred Perry with your logo on etc, and bring everything you need with you to a quote. Customers hate you going in and out especially if it's raining, and make you look unprepared and amateurish. (and if your offer to take your boots off is accepted make sure you've changed your socks, phew).

We tune them a lot and the terrible tunes other companies flash to them would kill a lot of engines! I think they are very strong.
