It’s time for an almighty van showdown!
Mat’s got his hands on a Ford Transit MS-RT, and he’s going head-to-head against a Mercedes Vito!
So which will come out on top? Well starting with the Ford, it’s powered by a 2-litre Diesel engine that can deliver 184hp & 415Nm of torque. It’s pretty heavy, weighing in at 2.2 tonnes, and it also comes with a sporty body kit and a couple of interior upgrades, although we don’t think these will help in this battle!
As for the Mercedes, it’s down on power, with its 1.8-litre turbo diesel putting down 134hp & 330Nm of torque. It’s lighter than the Ford, too, tipping the scales at 2 tonnes.
What’s more, that’s not the end of the battle… The winner of the first challenge needs to go toe-to-toe with the new VW Transporter! With a 2-litre turbo diesel under the bonnet, it can deliver 206hp & 450Nm!

I am a bit disappointed that every time you guys bring the Vito to a race you always use the low end version of it. If it had been the 119 with 190 hp and rwd it probably would have smoked those other vans. Other than that as always great video and very nice content! Keep it up!

This is a tug o war vid. RWD would mean less weight over the driven wheels and more power would make no difference since this one could spin the wheels easily anyway. If anything the 119 would lose by more.

Vw are going to use Ford combustion and platforms very soon for their commercial vans and pick-up (part of the deal with Ford after Vw group diesel & petrol gate with emission cheat devices fitted as up to 400% over max legal limit of pollution allowed, with Ford getting Vw smaller electric car platform in exchange) so basically will be re badged Fords soon hence why would you think they would have won. Vw then Merc would win at being the most deadly toxic!

Matt, these tug of war are never fair while relying on a tow hitch that's not at the centre of the rear like a tow bar. otherwise there is a reduction in effective grip on the opposite side from the tow hitches.

I’ve just had a transit hire van because my vito was damaged I couldn’t stand the transit the fly wheel was to light, it kept stalling all the time the brake master cylinder was also to small the brakes had no feel there just on or off and as for the handling o boy they are bad very rough ride, if you hit a bump mid corner you end of the road. I can’t believe Ford are still using Roman suspension they’ve actually still got leaf spring on.😂

I personally think the standard highest spec transit (Limited) is much better, it has more tech, you can get it with 130hp or 170hp with a 6-speed auto or a 6-speed auto. It also is much much cheaper, more like around 37k, I don’t think there is any point in buying one of those aftermarket bodykit transits.

There ain't no Altimas in the UK, we have Camrys.. but they are basic and not TRD versions like in the US. Most off the Civics are 1.0L Turbos and some 1.5s.. most off the Mazda 6s are 2.2L turbo diesel or 2.0L non turbo petrol. Nissan don't sell saloon cars anymore in the UK and when they did a long tíme ago. They were called the Primera and Maxima. .Honda also pulled the Accord from the UK market about 6 to 7 years ago and the Toyota Camry is not a good seller and never really was.. Toyotas main saloon car was the Avensis and Carina before it. The Accord and Camry might be good sellers in the US. But the Mazda 6 outsold both off them combined here.
