I never would have thought I was in the YC because I didn’t bid for it. And a quick research for the actual room would have told me that my room is not in the YC. It seems like you added to your frustration by trying to get into the YC. When an obvious mistake is made, I do not proceed ahead because in the end I lose out on that error. So glad they refunded you. You got a free upgrade. Upgrading does not have to be complicated or confusing. It can be rewarding and most of the time it is. I do hope you try again.

While its rare now, sometimes you do get an odd complementary upgrade. I can see the confusion, but the questions he had should have prompted a call to the cruise line, not the TA.

I agree, we booked a cruise in February 2024 was invited to bid for Yacht Club and won. We had an Amazon time and booked a YC room for July 4. I don’t know if I can go back to a regular room. Ha

WOW that's odd on the mistake.. YC area is only for the Rooms located in the YC. Now the room you got is a fantastic room to get for the price you got! The aurea room should get you access to the Aurea deck(private deck with bar). Hope this does not turn you off on MSC.. If you happen to go again do the YC! It will change your life...

The main reason that I no longer use travel agents is that it can be harder to maintains control over your reservations and everyone points fingers when an error happens. Last major error was with the airlines and the agent put someone else in our seats on a flight and had we not checked our seats 3 weeks before our flight, we wouldn't have had seats at all! When you book things yourself feel you free to call and check things without the risk of the agents well meaning interference causing chaos. The moment you felt concerned, you should have called the cruise line yourself! At the end of the day you are paying for it!! If you were put on hold 7x with the TA, the verbal confirmation could have been the agent just being tired of you calling back and there is no paper trail so it was their word against yours. Also the worst TA stories I tend to hear are around upgrades. But in the end, you got a free upgrade, and while the exclusivity of the yacht club is nice, other than the less crowded pool area, you don't spend that much time in it anyway and the room was the best part of what you ended up with. With the HT and chairs you were all set in your room.

Wow, that sounds like a mess. Other people are saying you should've realised this or that, but you did realise it didn't sound right and you contacted them to confirm what exactly was going on. They then confirmed everything was in order. So, you gave them the opportunity to correct their mistake, but they didn't. They should've given you a full refund for everything, due to stressing out your holiday and numerous trips to customer service. Only thing I can add is that these days I do all customer service contact via email. Phone calls unfortunately don't mean anything anymore, because they just tell you what you want to hear and then when you repeat it later, they either deny it or don't know who would've said that.

we have 30+ cruises... twice we have been upgraded to yacht club... you did not bid on YC... too bad you didn't call MSC...they could have cleared it up... your option to inside YC should have been taken... only $345 which is couple hundred less than a drink package!!! just book the cheapest balcony on MSC and they will offer upgrade which will be half of price if booked originally... cheers

Bad advice to not try to upgrade...instead I would just say it's not for me...I for one is very happy I did upgrade to the yacht club...you are probably the type who would step on a dropped 100 dollar bill hoping the person would walk away and not notice 😂😅. So people if its in the budget absolutely upgrade...you only live once😊.
