MSC Yacht Club - Is it a rip off or is it worth the money ??

Lots of info both good and bad on the internet about the MSC Yacht Club so we decided to try the MSC Yacht Club cruise experience for ourselves and see what its all about and then review it for you. So we booked a 7 day Western Mediterranean cruise leaving from Barcelona. Do we think MSC Yacht Club is worth it or not - watch the video to find out what happened.

I was lucky enough to be in the YC on the Meraviglia earlier this year. I have a feeling we are going to look back at these as the "good ole days" soon. The YC secret is out. I can't imagine prices won't skyrocket soon.

We have been on the same ship in january (first time in Yacht Club). It was great to see some familiar faces on your video (especially Nathalia, she takes such good care of the guests in the top sail lounge). The biggest benefit of Yacht Club must be the line shipping - I've found some queues to board MSC ships absolutely laughable, so this benefit is worth its' weight in gold. I sometimes wonder if MSC deliberately built of the lines to give the benefit to YC guests, ha!

In our experience there are 3 main benefits to YC. We agree with the line skipping benefit as YC guests get priority boarding, priority disembarkation and that saves a lot of time. Second benefit is the all inclusive food and drink which is of excellent quality. And the third is the use of the exclusive areas that are only for YC guests. Never any worry about not getting a sun lounger as one example. Less crowded YC common areas. Anyway YC is great ! 👍

Im British. Originally from Glossop Derbyshire. I was taught on the Queen Mary that the way you poor the milk is the class of person you are. Because the poor drank from clay mugs, the milk had to go in first to stop it cracking from the heat. And the upper class, the tea first. Because they drank from China cups, which withstand heat😉

Very good video. However, posh people pour the tea in first as their fine China can take the heat. Us working class plebs have to put milk in first to ensure our cups never cracked.

That’s exactly right - historically the milk goes in first to cool the tea during pouring to protect the working class china cup.

We just chatted about that and we think you would be better in the gen pop as more chance of meeting other singles there. YC seemed to be mainly all couples. 😃

Interesting, and well presented video on an otherwise gaudy, and ostentatious accommodation. Query: Another poster mentioned noise as being an issue. On other cruise lines (HAL, Celebrity, Princess, Viking) one must open the cabin door to hear general announcements. Not so on his MSC experience as YC doors were paper thin, and not insulated at all. He could also hear casual hallway conversations. What was your experience?

Hi , our YC cabin was super quiet and doors seemed to be heavy and substantial. We had to open the door to hear the ship wide announcements on the hallway speakers. We could not hear people in the hallway outside our cabin. We were very happy with our accommodation, super quiet, no complaints at all. Thanks for watching.

May I ask when did you sail & Where did you embark from? I heard Spanish but see its not Barcelona. Ships are called "her" because theyre like a womb carrying a baby. Sailors terms. She protects and nutures them❤ looked very quiet in YC ? Was it?

We sailed in April and embarked from Barcelona. YC was full but the layout is such that for such a small group of passengers YC bars, restaurants and deck areas always seemed uncrowded, quiet and peaceful. Quite a contrast to the ships main deck areas and bars.

Have booked balcony on fantasia 2nd Nov Med tour, they emailed today to upgrade to YC but min bid $1,100 each!! Do they email again at a lower rate nearer the date? Also, just been quoted thru MSC site for parking $95 each person !!! Not just the car ! Any info welcome. Thx for a great vid x

Fantasia is a nice, smaller size ship and we loved sailing on her. Personally we would submit that minimum bid of $1100 each to upgrade into a Yacht Club balcony suite. Your cruise experience will be so much nicer. Also all drinks are included once you are in YC so there’s value in that as well. Treat yourselves !

Thx, We did actually sail on her about 11 yrs ago, you won’t believe this; the fare was an offer of £99 for a balcony (no yacht club) last minute as they couldn’t fill the ship!! We found it too crowded so Yacht club is appealing but it’s making it so expensive for the week with all the add ons like tours, hotel night before, parking, house-sitter etc.

Last place you would expect to find good fish n chips is on a cruise ship but the ones served to us were, lets just say, very acceptable. We'd definitely rather be sat at an old English seaside town eating traditional fish and chips with fingers out of newspaper but thats not always possible :)

Milk first or tea first is a modern debate. Historically tea is served in very fine, delicate china cups and milk was always added first so the boiling hot tea was cooled slightly as it is poured and so prevented cracking and damaging the expensive china. In Yorkshire where I am from this method turned into tradition. Enjoy your next cuppa tea and thanks for watching and commenting 👍😃

Good question - you are charged gratuities on your account just the same as every other passenger on the ship. MSC actually ask you, in their cruise info, not to tip the staff individually as they like to operate on fair distribution of gratuities between all staff. However, all passengers in YC that we met and discussed tipping with did hand a good tip to their butler, favorite waiter, bar staff, server etc. at the end of the cruise. We did the same but made sure we did this very discreetly.

The YC pool area and bar was a super quiet and relaxing place to hang out. The main YC lounge had a live pianist in the evenings.

They said the treatment was better than any other Cruiseline, However, the food was not the best . Would that be a fair assessment with the both of you. For example, their food is nothing like regent, cruise line, or Oceana, Yet the MSC Yacht Club is so much better,and their prices is most economical. Also heard that MSC announce things in different languages. Some passengers do not mind , yet some found it annoying . What would be your assessment on the food. Were there other’s services like high noon tea and food and drinks offers to you around the pool area . Is there anything else you would like to mention that you might not have? Based on your video, I might want to check it out . If you don’t mind me, asking, about how much was it for you both?

@@faithmoore7520 We definitely were treated like royalty and we felt very very pampered by the YC staff. We found the food to be great quality in the YC lounge, Pool area and YC restaurant. Rhonda asked them to customize food to her taste almost every day and it was done without any question and was always perfectly cooked for her liking. We have not sailed Regent or Oceana so cannot comment on a comparison but YC is definitely a well priced product.

Couldn't agree with your review more, my wife refuses to travel on any other cruise line, or class of cabin. Jaxi the Head Butler on your cruise was a very shy Junior Butler on our first YC cruise!! Then our butler on another cruise. We have done seven cruises in MSC YC including two re-positioning cruises which I would highly recommend, Sth. America to Italy was our favourite. Good review, looking forward to your next MSC cruise review.

What did you think of the ports on this cruise? Did being Yacht Club passengers affect the speed of getting on and off the ship for excursions?

The ports of call were great. Naples was awesome but for us was just spoilt by the speeding scooters in the old town. YC gives you priority disembarkation at all ports. Whenever you are ready to get off just ask the concierge for a butler escort and you fly past all the lines and are off the ship in minutes. So awesome

Theyve stopped giving out the Toblerones and doing their signature frozen Toblerone cocktails 😢..its cos of nut allergies. Too risky and a liabilty

How soft are the beds in YC? we've gone both fantastica and aurea and both times the beds were like rocks 😢, my hubby likes them but they were too firm for me, literally woke up in pain each morning

We did a cruise on the world Europa last September. It was our first cruise, so didn’t know what to fully expect. We knew there’d be huge crowds of folk, but nothing can prepare you for the mayhem! We only found out about yacht club halfway through the cruise, so next time we’ll 100% be upgrading to YC!

The benefits of reserving a FUTURE CRUISE whilst onboard MSC are fab, too! MSC also give 10% off on line for reservations if you're over 65. We met a lovely retired couple from New Jersey on the Meraviligia in April whilst we were in Yacht Club. They have done the Haven many times with NCL and prefered YC much more. So much, that theyve booked for next year for the entire family! All in YC 10 adults and 4 kids $55.000 ! Note- 4 of them will be staying in the Family penthouse suite, which is under Aurea, but theyll still be in the YC experience. Its there mums 96th birthday and theyll be in that suite with her. They want to be sure she has an incredible time.🎉❤.
