I for one am very excited to travel on these sometime soon. Articulated bogies, low engine noise in the carriages. It's a genuinely new and different way of designing a train.

it is a pity, but the Swiss rail manufacturering industry had also been killed off and, as a half Swiss, I am glad that Stadler Rail is able to export and grow.

Daft question: why only single double-door entry? Surely this might cause passenger congestion in busy rush hour periods?

Not a daft question at all. I guess time will tell, it always does

The 755s are mostly for regional routes, so they won’t really have much rush... but it’s also worth noting that these doors are wider than most of the units they replace, and that the cars are shorter so it’s not as bad as it looks
@sarribel6 жыл бұрын
bombardier at derby, hitachi at newtown aycliffe and in the coming years both caf at newport and siemens at goole will be making the lion´s share of the uk trains and probably doing a great deal exporting some of the hardware
@Travelling_about6 жыл бұрын
That’s a big gap between doors!
@iman23416 жыл бұрын
These are regional units, no need for a lot of doors.
@nickyanagi84176 жыл бұрын
The length of coach with shared bogies is shorter than the coach with its own bogies. Maybe that's the reason it decided to have only one door per coach. The middle two coaches are too short to have two doors, I think.

We always used to make all of our own Rolling stock. British jobs for British people, what's wrong with that?

@Jamie-Lee Harley Thornton And by saying you want all rolling stock to be British is showing a dislike for foreign rolling stock!
@EdgyNumber16 жыл бұрын
Sorry Steve but when BREL was divested from govt control, other countries were building better stuff. More importantly they were exporting. BREL never did. Can't blame foreigners for crap British management and worker attitudes.

Dedicated power car should make for a better ride. Only need to look at HST vs Adelante to see the virtue of dedicated power cars. However, a lack of a buffet car is a sad loss and I rather suspect the spineboard seats of the Thameslink trains will also be on this train and they really aren't suited so travel beyond suburban routes.

Looking through the comments I can tell that the british have a weird taste in trains. This looks imo great but the car in the middle is a bit silly. People are saying also that the train looks very europish, is it a bad thing though?
@mscangliarail6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comments the car in the middle is the diesel unit so the train can run on overhead electric or diesel which it makes it more versatile in Anglia Region

It looks like something you would have seen on the German or Dutch railways circa 1990. Not nice. The tacky livery doesn't help. That said I'm sure they will provide a performance and comfort improvement over the class 15x, despite their rather offensive lack of design cohesion. The one door per coach design seems really stupid and will mean alighting/boarding will take forever in peak times!
