I love this. I found your channel possibly by luck, but the UH-1H flight got me hooked. Learnt to fly the Robbins, and love to follow these flight plans around. Not to mentioned the research you do as well. Keep it up, looking forward to flying some more.

Did you get your MFGs? You are going to love them! Great video, very well researched! Thank you for taking all that time.

I did! They are sitting in my trunk. We had to do an emergency appendectomy tonight on my youngest daughter, so everything got a little backed up on me.

Thans, man. She is back home recovering. I'm just glad we caught it before things got worse. Plus, I got to take a day off work to prepare tonight's London flight!

Wife and I were there new zealand and australia awesome. Hey, if you're sitting in there with your simulator what's your wife's say? At least she knows where to find you, instead of sitting at a bar , ha ha. That's what I tell my wife too!
@MSFSFlightPlans28 күн бұрын
Yeah, lucky for me (maybe), she did plenty of wondering where I was when when I was a much younger idiot. So she's just delighted to hear me talking very loundly into a microphone all night long. Probably helps her sleep better!

33:11 fun fact those barracks there aren’t open or known to the public, they’re basically abandoned and turned into graffiti practice areas or nurseries for bees for the local iwi. We used to play in them and do all sorts of shit in them. Untill about 15 20 years ago there were no trees up there. You could see them from my houses. Now since the iwi had grown large amounts of native trees back up there it’s been fully covered. There are still remains of old AA guns up there. The north shore preserve those old battery guns and tunnels. While if you drive Tamaki Drive from CBD to Mission bay. You can see the remains of old barracks aswell built into the Clift side. They’re many many tunnels through the city and my area that nobody knows about. You can still access one near Micheal Savage. Right across from the Tamaki Yacht Club there is a staircase that you’ll have to find but it’s there and blocked off by a guard rail. You climb that staircase you’ll enter what looks like a cave but then opens up into an old air raid tunnel. One of the many.

Gorgeous video! -- You might also like to check out some even more scenic places in NZ, like Nelson, Mount Cook, Wanaka, Queenstown & Milford Sound. I promise, you will not regret it. They are one of the most beautiful areas in the world you'll ever see. If you also want more North Island areas, some of the best are in the Bay of Islands, Lake Taupo, Tongariro National Park, Coromandel Peninsula, Tauranga, Pauanui & Wellington. :)

I've heard good things about those areas, I'll have to check them out for a future video!

Nice tour of Auckland. I’m from NZ originally and lived in Auckland in 1987-1988, and I’ve just learned a thing or two I didn’t know, thanks! You’re right with Pukaki, not pronounced ‘puke’. I did my fixed wing PPL in Auckland at Dairy Flat, which is now North Shore. You should check it out, very narrow runway. Used to watch the heli pilots practising autorotation on the other side of the runway. Another trip you could do could be Queenstown (which is a featured airport in FS2020 so might be again), fly though to Mt Cook and land at, wait for it, Pukaki Airport near Twizel.

I love flying into Queenstown, we'll definitely make our way down there before long. Glad I didn't trust the web on the Puke thing!

As far as Americans on youtube go, your pronunciation of Maori was as good as I've ever heard, good job! MOTAT is absolutely the place to go. There's an old school tram that runs between each of the areas, past the zoo. And btw, the trees next to the helipad you wanted to land at? They're definitely there, lol, I was driving across the SH20 bridge just to the west and thought a helicopter was crashing into them, it landed so close.
@MSFSFlightPlans19 күн бұрын
Thanks for the reporting from the ground! So do they have a full-on train section at MOTAT, or is that area just for the tram?
@craigmacgibbon916617 күн бұрын
@@MSFSFlightPlans The train tracks you were looking at are for the steam trains, and you can ride them, though I I think the track you saw is the extent of it (not been on them, unfortunately). The tram leaves from the entrance to the aviation hall, on the other side from the tracks, and goes south, then around the lake to the other half of Motat. That was a DC3 you saw on the map, but there is MUCH cooler stuff inside, like a WWII Lancaster bomber.

Hi there,lively but I noticed no road traffic? In my opinion,some areas look very artificial and "pasted over",also that popping stuff kills it! They should change to something like half cloud/half hard drive!
@MSFSFlightPlansАй бұрын
Yeah, I keep all the traffic (roads, planes, animals, etc) turned off because anything animated is a big FPS killer. It's a preferential tradeoff for me since stuttering is more of an immeraion-breaker than dead streets, IMO. I'm hoping once I can upgrade my card to a 5090 I'll be able to start bringing stuff back in. Particularly the planes, I like seeing some life at the airports.

For the CowanSim R66 map the throttle to "Set Helicopter Throttle Axis".
@MSFSFlightPlansАй бұрын
That's what I set it to, but now I'm kind of wondering if the sim just reset my configurations when I got back in before that flight. It's done that quite a few times on me, which is immensely irritating. Do you have the marketplace versions of any of the Cowansim Robinsons? If so, are they showing up in the sim?

Do you like the Robinson? I’ve never flown one and don’t really like the looks, but I’ve seen several videos of people saying they fly well. I like flying the H125 but the visibility isn’t good and the trim needs work in 2024. I like the visibility in the 50E but it’s a bit squirrelly. Beautiful trip!
@MSFSFlightPlansАй бұрын
Ha! I think the Robinsons are some of the ugliest aircraft ever produced (maybe the Optica is worse), but they are just so great for sightseeing with that giant bubble canopy. I'd grab the R22 if you just want to have one in your hangar, it's not real quick, but very tame and I've heard it's one of the most realistic flight models in the sim.
@laihimchan8540Ай бұрын
hello you choose ultra settings?
@MSFSFlightPlansАй бұрын
I did. Everything was ultra but the traffic, which I keep off. I usually set the ships to high if we are near water, however. I think my terrain LOD was 250 for that trip.

why some cities show proper nice photogametry while others cities not?
@MSFSFlightPlansАй бұрын
I really don't know. Before seeing Auckland, I was under the assumption they'd changed something about the coding that prohibited too much data in any one area to improve performance. But since we now know it really can look this good, I just can't fathom why all the other places don't at least look AS GOOD as they did in 2020. You'd think they'd just use the same template if they already had the data, right?

Wow! That is a great photogrammetry area! If you’re wondering why not all the scenery is the same quality, I talk a little about it in my H225 video. @MSFSFlightPlansАй бұрын
That IS a fun fact, thank you for that. If figured the number was probably lower down there. We always come across these sites on our flight that are the "biggest, tallest, longest" etc in the SH and I always think, "Jeesh, that's not very big ... there must not be too many of them down here."
