I agree with all your comments. Really enjoyed the Alpha. Much improved performance. Amazing lighting. However, far too many CTDs and 'thread hangs' on my totally stable top tier PC in 4K. They've only got 4 weeks to fix it!

All this graphical stuff means nothing to me if they haven't got proper OpenXR VR support... hand interaction, mixed reality blending, etc. They really need to step up their game here. Being able to turn hand interaction on/off for elements you have hardware for is also important.

VR is sadly underdeveloped, devs show little interest. My cynical take is that pancake works better for creating YT videos. Also not adding native FFB with all the FFB sticks coming out is a big omission

@@strikkflypilot927 That is indeed cynical. The real reason is that a very, very small, insignificant part of the player base uses VR, so management does not consider it to be cost-effective to spend more time developing VR mechanics.

No ctd here, i was just frustrated with binding controls. But i knew what this was. It was so limited and choked of all the features i had no doubts things would be funky. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt. Theyve come so far in 4 years

I didn't want to do the tech alpha, as I have a new VR headset, and i'm still mucking around dialling that in for MSFS 2020. So cheers to all who participated, hope it helped Asobo. Really happy to hear of the performance and load time improvements. And the flight model. The lighting and the weather effects look insane. I am pumped for day one, but expect some teething issues. I am wondering where to start my career lol. I want to do it at my home airport, but i live at the end of the earth lol. May not have many missions nearby!

Was impressed with the Alpha but wished I could have seen it in my Pimax Crystal Light. Had two CTDs in two days, but overall performance was great. Loved getting out and walking around looking at things up close, especially those trees!! Thanks for your efforts!!

I just had 1 CTD running Alpha and was on addon airport . Rock solid performance and experience for me on my all AMD system with fiber 1 Gigabit isp connection. I’m looking forward to install my MSFS024 premium Deluxe I already bought

Great video, Jose. I have a question regarding MSFS 2024. Can the sim call on the actual weather in semi-real time for the area you are flying in? Let's say it's 57 degrees with a light drizzle and 10-12 mph winds at PDX and I take off from there. Can the sim call that information from the web and use it in the game?

I'm very concerned my 4090 won't be able to handle this sim in VR... some of the Alpha streams i watched had the GPU at high 90% utilization. My specs 7800x3D, 64GB DDR5, RTX 4090 running an oculus quest via Wifi 6e.

I'm buying the $200 version of the 2024 simulator and patiently waiting for the 9800X3D to come out as I'm undecided about getting a 5090 at the moment as the 4090 may be sufficient for another year or two. Hopefully VR is better because VR in 2020 was absolutely horrific.

It is an Alpha and we will be Beta Testers for the next 2 years… just as MSFS2020 is still an ongoing progress. In my view MSFS2024 is just kind of a semi-engine upgrade of MSFS2020 and should have been offered as a major update in the marketplace. Good news however is, that it was confirmed in the official forum, that ALL owned marketplace content from 2020 will be transferable in 2024 - even between MS Store and Steam versions.
