The reason you dropped of GS is because you were around 15 knots below VREF Usually we aim to keep VREF+5 to start on the very short final start to decrease to cross over the threshold at VREF.

@@JesusLopez-es4to When you're within reach of the ILS signal. You can check it on the approach chart (Navigraph, Little Navmap, PDFs etc.) at which waypoint/leg to switch on approach mode.

Thank you very much for this and your other videos. I have a small comment, which I hope you will take as constructive. I find it (and I live in Canada) very difficult (and at times impossible) to understand what you say, because you talk so fast! Unfortunately for me, it happens at the critical points :-) It just requires that I watch that point in the video over and over until I understand what you mean. But, thanks a lot for the effort, I am sure it helps many!

you have to slow down on the discontinuity part. its confusing and you are hitting buttons at a fast pace and you have a nice acescent, but its hard to understand when you are in high speed. great overall though

Great video. A point of constructive feedback. Please slow down when explaining things in the MCDU (the discontinuation part specifically). You have an interesting flow/way of speaking which means you just need to slow down a bit! Awesome video though, thanks for effort and time.

The FMS should use the ILS frequency of the allocated arrival runway, in FMS mode. You will see the green LOC and GS in the top left of the PFD. It saves you manually switching to VOR.

I was on approach this morning and hit the approach switch on the AP and it began to take me off the approach right towards the runway as I my approach was a left downwind pass the airport. I was on FMC mode.

Cabin pressure management is mostly automatic in the CRJ. All you need to do is set your landing elevation using the knob of the same name on the overhead.

I average around 20fps with this aircraft, but it definitely doesn't feel like it. This video feels much smoother than 20!

When you switched to green needles does it turn your aircraft in random directions, or when you hit the LOC does it auto turn your aircraft.

When you hit LOC it should just follow your flight plan.

FROM CHILE: Thanks for this and other tutorials !! I enjoy and I am learning the CRJ plane, however two issues I can not resolve: During almos every flight the plane stops to follow the flight plan path. (Which I always input manually) When it fails and I guide the plane to the next way point , and engage NAV mode again it will not follow for this position the following ways points..... The other issue is that I never succeed in that the plane will engage the ILS final and follow the GS, even if it is the screen.... I have change the navigation source to NAV1 or live it at FSU1 but no change (Of course I turn on the APPR mode ....). I will appreciate any advice Thanks

You should be on NAV1, make sure your Yaw Damper is turned on!

About your first issue - if its still relevant - you may have to manually connect some waypoints via the legs page on the fms. About you second issue, no clue, same happens to me constantly

I can't believe what an aircraft that's this sophisticated that it does not have an auto throttle feature! That is the biggest gripe that I have with this aircraft... I wish there was some kind of mod that we could utilize to give us Auto throttle..😡

No mod unfortunately, the engines are too small to hold an autothrottle unit, requiring pilots to fly by hand!

There's no mod, since the real CRJ also doesn't have autothrottle. Complain to Bombardier/Mitsubishi. Or fly Airbus if you only wanna do ILS autoland + autothrust.

Look at the PFD, it should show you localiser information.

I'm confused, what do I do on the legs page? I have my takeoff runway and it says r26l to blank with discontinuity next to it Also how do I get the ils frequency, I can't find it anywhere

Delete the discontiunity. This will link up your flightplan in full.

How do you control the speed during flight? Manually? I can't use the autopilot for that because it turns off the altitude control

It has no auto throttle so you have to manually control it on cruise and descent.

Unfortunately it's not available on Xbox due to the complexity of the aircraft, it's only on PC.

Hi, thanks for this tutorial. I found this very helpful to see how it works for others. I am encountering difficulties with Autopilot capturing the vertical glideslope. I am approaching from below and letting the glideslope come down "on me from above". My expectation is that the AP turns off ALT hold and starts descending once the vertical glide slope indicator crosses the center. In my case in 3 out of 4 attempts nothing happend. I had activated approach mode of autopilot before glide-slope being active. Any observations regarding this behavior... please let me know. Thanks. CLEAR, happy landings, OE-PKR

Just wondering why you can change the course on an ILS. So I could set it to 200deg for a RW05 approach which would make zero sense but the needles would lead me stright onto the Localizer with a course 200. But a LOC doesn't even emit the necessary signals, like a VOR, to do that. Also, in the default aircraft, I don't have to set the course for an ILS, so why is that? Of course it can be helpful to have the course set anyways, for example to be set for a go-around, but just the LOC itself shouldn't need it, or am I missing something?

Glideslope. It's all good setting your course to the opposite circle to face the runway, but the glide path will still be aiming for the touchdown marker at the far end of the runway, meaning you'll be several hundred feet above where you need to be.

Oh, in that regard yes it can be done. As for default A320 not requiring course to be input, it does so automatically as the default plane does not have the tech to do so manually, so it just looks up on the nav database and uses your approach runway.

Make sure your Yaw Damper is set. Worst case use the FMS to direct to another waypoint.

yaw damper as drawyah mentioned before. i did the same mistake on my very first flight. the engage/disengage message is a little hard to see at the screen

Landing speeds are anywhere from 140 - 160knotss depending on weight or Cog. There is currently a COG issue and an approach FMS issue that's been highlight as "Hot" on aerosoft. Update in due course. Fms isn't following stars or sids.

When I set the autopilot to APPROACH mode, the plane always goes lower than it’s supposed to, even though I’m keeping my speed at about 220 knots, any ideas?

Make sure that you are properly established on the localiser and haven't missed it. That will cause the altitude to be lost.

Focus on the magenta diamonds, make sure they are *both* centered before activation.

I do not own Navigraph. I use ChartFox for charts and the simulator automatically updates the AIRAC cycle.

@@Drawyah I think that is not the case for the CRJ. Since it is not using the data of the sim itself, you have to update the AIRAC cycle yourself within the airplane (and for that you need a subscription). The airplane is sold with current cycle 2102. That's at least what is on the website of aerosoft. Dunno if I am right with this information.

This plane tricky to fly when you're coming from an aircraft with wing mounted engines. The high (and rearward) position of the engines affect the moments around the C.G different. When you reduce power the nose will pitch up and down when applying power. This is opposite to most wing mounted engine aircrafts. This combined with the fact that the CRJ doesn't have an auto throttle makes it very important to keep a sharp eye on the speed. It looks like you pulled up to decrease the vertical speed without applying more power which made you're speed drop. I spent a few hours practicing landings myself yesterday and it's getting better, but it's definately tricky. Nice video anyway

Hello everyone. I recently bought the CRJ which is very nice but I can't use my Thrustmatser Airbus edition throttle because I can't calibrate it with the flypad : the default values are 9999 for each position. Can some help me ? Thank you

Make sure you're configuring for dual-throttle levers, not single.

It's a different button in the crj. You have to map the "decrease throttle" function to the button you want to use to trigger the reverse

How do you get the Reverse thrusters to engage? I've been arming them but even then my hotkey for toggling the reverse thrust hasn't worked. Is there anything else other than arming them you need to do to activate them?

This pane is absolute trash. NAV completely turns itself off during cruise and will never turn back on the rest of the flight, and manual controls turn into 10x sensitivity causing any turns or descents to overstress the aircraft.

I've never had an issue with the NAV, however it does turn off automatically if a control input is detected. If everything s Is 10x too much on your side, it sounds like you have something configured wrong. Check the Aerosoft website too for updates.

The plane comes with both a Horizon air one with the Horizon tail, and an Alaska one with the Eskimo tail :)

@@BrenonaPlen We always said we were the "Other End of the Eskimo." But the Aerosoft site still says only the new Alaska version. I know the FSX-SE version has both. Are you sure this is the MSFS 2020 one?
