Your tutorials have been excellent. I was a commercial pilot and stopped flying. A few of my friends flew the CRJ. Back in the FS9 days I used to love the Project Opensky CRJ-200. For the longest time it was the only RJ available and had a decent-looking 3D cockpit but was minimally functional of course. I got into home cockpit building with the goals of wanting / needing the most realism for training but now.. FINALLY.. we are starting to see aircraft that are actually worthy asIde from maybe 10 other jets. It’s good to see a regional. I have a 32" 4k desktop now and this video looks so good. I used to also hate 3D cockpits because it was so hard to see on a CRT and 24" displays. But with large 4k and this kind of fidelity I think I may be ready to scale everything back down and be the keyboard/mouse flyer again. It's certainly a lot cheaper. And VR is nice, but it is still going to be a few years before it matures and costs come down. Anyway, just this jet alone gets me excited for MSFS2020.

I am learning the CRJ based on your great video tutorial. My actual problem or question is, that after taking off and although I am above 600 ft the AP cannot be activated either in HDG or NAV mode ? All other systems works fine ? FD is on.
@Flyer02453 жыл бұрын
Two things come to mind. 1) Are there any red or yellow messages on the EICAS? Do you have multiple controllers? If the yawdamper is not engaged (ON) for example the AP will not work. If you have more than one controller it could be that MSFS automatically assigned some functions without you knowing and this could be a problem. MSFS once assigned a spoiler axis to my rudderpedals during a newe install without me knowing. And one last question; Do you see the HDG or FMS1 modes on your PFD with the FD is on after selecting one of the modes after take off? Cheers

Your tutorial guides are legendary and are by far the most comprehensive compared to any others I've seen. One thing that has me coming back to recheck however is at 19:23 , you said that the nose (pitch) of the plane has to go to 20 degrees. Having flown the A32nx by Flybywire and other GA aircraft in the sim, a pitch degree of 20 in comparison is terrifyingly high. Even when I go to the passenger view of the CRJ wing I see the plane (at 20 degrees) climbing steeply. Are CRJs IRL or the CRJ in the sim supposed to climb that steeply? When I fly the CRJ in-game or watch other people fly Aerosoft's CRJ in the sim, they all seemingly pitch at about 20 degrees on Takeoff. Am I just paranoid that the 20 degrees pitch feels steep?
@Flyer02453 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for the nice words! 20 degrees of nose up pitch is indeed a lot but with aircraft like the CRJ and MD80 not unheard of. The AS CRJ is a bit overpowered at the moment but I have seen the pitch above 20 degrees numerous times on the real CRJ with low weights. Anything above 15 degrees in an Airbus would indeed scare me to death....

2 questions… how do you start cold and dark? Every time I start at the gate the engine and instruments automatically turn on… second question on my display there’s a TO and a TO with a line across. Been having troubles with the auto pilot lately. Btw love your channel! I start my CRJ550 training July 13th! So just trying to prepare a little before class
@Flyer02453 жыл бұрын
Starting cold and dark should be straight forward. Just select C&D as the default state on the "AIRCRAFT" tab in the EFB or select C&D when you are already in another loaded state. TO TO crossed out means you activated the FD take off mode without all the necessary pre-conditions. Most probably the Flaps are not yet in their 8 or 20 degrees take off position. Good luck with your CRJ550 training! You will love it for sure.

I´m curious as to what climb profile you used because it doesn't look like anything I've seen before. I fly the CRJ 1000 in real life. It's not at all according to the Bombardier manuals... You accelerated from 189 kts directly to 250 kts. No such profile exists in real life. You either have NADP 1, 2 or specific to the airport. Please note as well that when the pilot monitoring presses the speed mode button, he then adjusts the selected speed back to whatever had been planned (V2 +10 to 20 kts). This is because when speed mode is called for by the pilot flying, the pilot presses the speed button and the aircraft will simply capture the speed at which the aircraft is flying at and not what had been selected before take off, which is why you were climbing at 189 kts rather that what was intended... The climb out profile we use is NADP 2, unless there is a specific profile for the departure airport and it goes as follows: - Positive rate, gear up - Call for speed mode (V2 + 10 to 20 kts) - 400 feet NAV mode - 600 feet Autopilot - 1000 feet ASFC (AGL), speed 200 kts - Retract flaps on schedule - When the flaps are up, set climb power, and call for climb checks - 3000 ASFC, accelerate to 250 kts.

Thank you for your post. I have about 5000 hours in the CR1-9 and I can tell you that every airline does their SOPs a bit different. In these videos we fly by the Aerosoft SOPs. This take off was neither NADP1 or 2. It is meant for instructional purposes for a public that is new to jet aircraft. It is not meant as a type rating for the real deal nor does it reflect 100% RW ops. That will be in another series where we will go for the highest degree of realism. But we have to crawl first before we can run.
@Modswanted3 жыл бұрын
lol... relax Mr. As you are a pilot, then I'm sure you know, that there are such things like OM-A and OM-B and that procedures written in these books are based on manufacturer FCOMs and are madified by the airlines to their needs. So as the content creator already mentioned, his flights are according to aerosoft books... whatever they wrote in them. Just because your airline's procedures are different to the ones in the video, doesn't mean they are wrong. It's not really an elegant way to show other people, that you are a pilot (no offense).
@davidh72803 жыл бұрын
I set the speed mode prior to take off, then when you engage AP the speed is as pre selected. If you fly the sim with MCE, you can ask the FO for a speed and he/she will dial it for you, then ask for speed mode, the MCE FO will engage it for you. If your flying this aircraft like a Cessna (single pilot....most unrealistic) you must adopt non real world procedures. Well done Mr Dude, your showing how novice Asobo pilots can fly this complex sim in a "game" simulation!

I fly the CRJ9 in the US and the profile shown here is exactly how we typically perform the initial climb. The only difference is when there are SID restrictions (speed, altitude), terrain considerations, or the Class C or D speed limit.

ACTSHUALLLLYYYYYYY *pushes glasses back up his nose* At 400 feet it is either NAV mode or HEADING mode, as appropriate for the situation. @Flyer02453 жыл бұрын
Yes, this is also done IRL. It is considered good airmanship to always update your heading bug in any aircraft that has this capability. If you have to switch to HDG mode, for example when editing the FMS waypoints, you already have the correct heading and the risk of inadvertent turns is reduced. Ofcourse the aircraft will not crash if you never update the heading. ;)

Why should you always center the heading bug?
@Flyer02453 жыл бұрын
It is a mantra that was repeated from flightschool onwards and also practiced by the airline. If you fly an aircraft that has a heading bug it is considered good airmanship to keep it centered. This way you know what your HDG clearance by ATC was (if given) and some aircraft have HDG mode as their default AP/FD mode. When you engaged the AP/FD or when it reverts to these basic modes the aircraft will not turn towards some random "forgotten" HDG bug setting. So it is not a CRJ thing perse but a general recommendation.

It isn't an autothrottle or anything fancy like that. FADEC is what ya get. So your throttle controls power, that's it. Speed is up to you to manage. Speed bug in cruise is just going to be for reference, the system isn't advanced enough to adjust power to match the speed you set.
