The secret to navigation in Longi g5000, is to first, always go to flightaware ifr route analyzer. The Longi performs just like an airliner. Just fly the same route as the big boys. This avoids discontnuities . The waypoints, iaf, etc all line up, Sids, Stars, and approaches all should share same transitions/iaf/if etc.

I just wanted to make a suggestion on your departure and approach that generally happens in the real world. On the Departure you’d get Radar Vectors to get you away or a Preselected Heading as you did. But they would be in the General Direction of the Waypoint. Then you would normally get a Direct To instructions to the First or Second Waypoint to get you out of the busy area as fast as they can. On the approach you would fly as you did by Radar Vectors. 2 options might happen. 1. As you did to Intercept the Localizer in Nav Mode on 20 degree Intercept. 2. Under your own Nav you would get Initial Radar Vectors then a Direct to the Final Approach Fix. If you were on a straight in most likely do a Direct to the ILS approach fix. Hope that makes since.

Flew the Longitude tonight (KSJC KBUR)for the first time in two years just relying on my memory. BOY! has this aircraft improved in function, especially on landing. I will be taking some time watching your series and learn how to fly this better.

Since they update the G1000 and G3000, I never have a problem leaving VNM on while it captures ILS or RNAV approach. It switches over flawlessly. Also, it will capture the GS or GP from above if you miss it and while still in autopilot. What I do is set the altitude lower, use VS and come down until it captures the GS/GP. Works well although it's poor piloting. I try not to do this but my Vision Jet sometimes misses. Also, you can turn on approach early now. Doesn't seem to matter. If too early it won't turn on. I like turning it on early in RNAV approaches as it sometimes captures way before the FAF and it's fun watching it take the plane in. Your Longitude series was excellent. Very informative. Thank you.

Thanks for the comment .. I always do that for vnav as good practice this way I know i will not have a problem with it... yes you can use Vs to nose dive down until you reach the diamond I was mainly referring to the AP won't auto catch it if you are above the diamond it will take input from you to reach it . And same with the approach mode as good practice I don't like to activate until I am level with the diamond (yes it will pick up the gs before the faf) and this way I know I won't have an issue there. I'm just trying to give the best info especially to new flyers so they can avoid potential issues with msfs , let's face it there is enough to worry about up there 😅. Thanks again im happy you enjoyed the series.

Most rw pilots arm the appr mode when cleared for the approach. Not to be confused with activating the approach. Waiting till loc capture is probably too late. Not sure if i understood you correctly. Thanks for videos. Gps sequencing is always important, even on ils approach.

"Old Scool" recip calcs (before we had all this fancy stuff...). 257 -200 = 57, + 20 = 77. Or, going the other way, 77 + 200 = 277, - 20 + 257.

You're not going to "drop out of the sky" because of the tailwind. The speed indicated on your PFD is the speed at which your plane moves *through the air*. The airspeed is the deciding factor for the AOA, stalling, etc. Having a tailwind only influences *ground speed*, which has no influence on how well your plane flies. It just means you might need a loger runway than expected, or will have a hard time trying to stop on the ground.

Not entirely true. A change from headwind to tailwind can cause loss of lift and requires action. Usually happens on approach and close to ground. Read up on wind shear, microbursts etc. A tailwind in cruze is not a factor. The a/c just moves with air mass. Aircraft do drop out of the sky from tailwinds during microbursts. Many accidents. The a320 has ground speed mini, just for this reason. No offense. Your comment just needs to be qualified.

Regarding your calculation of reverse course at the 6:36 time hack, I would like to share with you how I learned this many years ago. Using the 257 deg. inbound of your example, instead of adding or subtracting 180, add or subtract 200 and then correct with 20. Additionally, always avoid exceeding 360. For instance, with 257 deg. subtract 200 then add 20 (257 - 200 = 57; 57 + 20 = 77). When stressed, it is really much easier.

Oh my gosh! So many things I have missed on this awesome garmin!! Its really hard to see the PFD. Good thing I bought another mini monitor for the pop-out Manager I'm gonna use. No wonder why I kept messing up my landings!! That PFD screen that was not available on Sim Dashboard.

This aircraft is truly a joy to fly, even single-handed. (Altho not cert for single). The wt g5000 is truly a work of art. By far the best aircraft for vatsim events. I fly this with 2 air manager touchscreens/knobster and longi panels. The GTC touch work awesome. I also fly fbw a320, what a pain, compared to longi. Thanks for quality videos.

It was not too early to activate approach mode. Even before LOC intercept is fine. It will not climb to reach the GS, cause the aircraft is flying in ALT hold mode. We typically activate approach when cleared for the approach, but within about 18nm or so. It is fine to intercept in LOC mode or even NAV mode and then Activate approach, however. This helps prevent overshoots of the course and descending on GS prior to being on the LOC course. Overall, nice job on the videos though.
@DownTheRabbit-Hole3 ай бұрын
Gps sequencing is very important. If using green loc mode to intercept one loses sequencing for missed approach and would have to use adf or manual fly on this approach. I am rw pilot with g1000 but not g5000 or longi. The appr can only be armed after dashed hsi style localizer deviation bar pops up on pfd. Most arm appr after clearance. Not to be confused with activating the approach.

All the 12 kt tail wind does on the landing is make your touch down speed 12 kts faster than the airspeed value. An airplane does not know there is wind out there; it is simply seeing the actual air flow over it's surfaces. If the Airspeed Indicator says 100 kts, that is how fast it is moving thru the air; it will not stall until the airspeed falls below stall speed. To exagerate, if you are landing with a 100 kt tail wind and touch down at 50 kts, the AIRPLANE was happy... You only start having problems with it ON THE GROUND!!! Re. Angle of Attack indicator; that is simply the angle the air is hitting the wing, When that angle gets to around 12 degs, the wing stalls... Period! The SWEET thing about the AOA Indicater is that you don't have to worry about Landing Wt and Speeds; just keep the AOA at the edge of the green and flare for touch down... You fly the AOA the same as the Glide Slope Needle (or Diamond, or whatever indicator you have...)

Follow your tutorials. Great job, thks. I remain confused as to the Longitude "Mods" your reference. I thought ( ~mistake #3 - ha ! ) I read that the Mods you reference are no longer needed, nor do they help, after most recent updates by MSFS. - I've installed Mods before, but there seems to be remaining conflicting information on sim sites - if these are Mods are of value, or necessary, after recent MSFS updates. Licensed pilot (old), simming since `85...... Your tutorials have been great & helpful. Any update or clarification on Longitude Mods ??
@2020fsers Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. As far as mods go I feel that if the mod is not needed in the marketplace, that is from ms and asobo for the ms /asobo longitude then they would have removed it imo I could be wrong but it would be counter productive for them to keep it there. Second the mod in flightsim.to is not needed but corrects some bugs in the longitude especially the reverse thrust . So that's my thought process on it.

Do you have a guide where you flight the Longitude to a regional airport that doesn't have a ILS? Mainly visual approach?

No, I don't. Most people wanted an ils approach, so that's what I did . It's pretty much the same for approach .

Great series, I love the Longitude. I have a question, is it okay to load an airway from a waypoint that is apart of the departure? Example: Leaving out of MMMX/05 using the ILETA2 departure transition to ILETO, then getting on the UT109 airway. I join that airway at ILETO, but that waypoint is in my departure and it’s causing my departure to be bloated. I’ve travel about 150 KM before hitting my first enroute waypoint.
@2020fsers Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment happy you enjoyed it. You should be able to click on that waypoint and add an airway. If not then try and add that waypoiny again after the transition and then maybe add the airway to that waypoint . So you would see the transition waypoint twice on you fpl . Idk if it will work but worth a shot.

I would never choose an ils approach without a feeder route, hold in lieu of procedure turn to turn around. This is some sort of ils adf in a foreign country? I don't see any legal feeder routes.

Hello, Do you have any idea why my flight simulator is crashing every time I try to launch the game? It crashes as soon as it reaches the main menu. I've deleted all add-ons, updated everything, but the issue persists. Please assist me, my friend. I really don't want to lose all the settings we worked on together. 😢
@2020fsers Жыл бұрын
Update windows if any updates. You can also try and delete any shader cache . Also try and turn off your internet when it's about half loaded and see if when it goes to the main menu if it crashes.
