Made it to the end & LOVE IT! Getting married put my hubby & I into budget mode, 6 years later, all debt paid off & we sometimes go back to our natural tendencies of not paying attention. Your videos are jump starting us back into consistent budgeting. Thank you, Both!

Love the new series! A disgusting amount of divorces root solely to money. My husband and I ONLY argue about it. We have been together since I was 15. (32 now). Our income in recent years has changed drastically but we never developed a budget. In return have fights every month about where our money goes. The more money you have coming in the more you have going out is the excuse. Every month. We have been looking for a system and this I am loving. I look forward to more detail. Thank you!! Ps- you did a great job at letting him talk this time LOL. Do not worry about time. These videos deserve the extra time! Thank you and great job!!

I listened all the way to the end and as a wife that has recently become more detailed with budgeting this video was VERY helpful and given us new easier ways of doing things to be honest. We are much more aware where things are going and where we are spending our money and I love it, so thank you so very very much!!!

You guys are the "Kelly and Michael" of KZbin ! No wonder you have such a great relationship. I did watch all the way through because the information was presented in clear, step by step terms. I believe most everyone will be able to set up or revise their personal finances ( if needed) after viewing this tutorial. Great job! I am loving this series.-

Great series! I made it to the end. People think a budget limits them but it actually gives you control, you are in charge of where you spend your money instead of it just "disappearing"!

I love watching your videos and greatly appreciate you guys for taking the time to share with us. I essentially do this already setting up different accounts for savings vacation and extra money to shop but I think it was a great idea at least for me to set money aside as you mentioned in an envelop to physically see the money. Thank you and can't wait for more videos!

Thank You Marnie & Michael! This is so necessary! My Dad Gambled away everything his parents left him. He was a compulsive personality period. Though I Loved him I didn't RESPECT him. This because he refused advice, assistance and argued for his limitations. It was as if he enjoyed being stubborn. He died at 55, broke and bitter. I saw him lead a miserable life' sick & sad at his own insistance. He was extremely handsome & very charismatic, so he played alot of women for their money. I was left as the elder child to pay off his debts. Today I am a recovering codependant because I was forced to be the adult. Please keep these videos coming. Many of us were deprived of good money handling habits.

Easily made it to the end. This is very interesting to me to learn how you manage your budget, as this is not a subject generally discussed in my circle of friends. I think it is important to honestly determine what type of money person you and/or your partner tend to be... spenders or savers... and that will also help in determining how to set up a budgeting system that will be most advantageous. The fact that you both communicate openly and often about your finances is a fantastic example for others. Couples that argue over money would do well to watch this series. Well done, Michael and Marnie.

I enjoyed watching this week's video. Paying off your credit card every month to a zero balance is important. When I went off to college 30yrs ago my Father taught me budgeting and the importance of not carrying a credit card balance. I had a monthly budget and my first credit card was an American Express. I had to keep track of my Amex purchases each month. Every month, the day after the closing date I had to write a check and mail it to my Father. One month, I wrote the check to my Father and it was $0.01 short because it was all I had in my checking account. My father charged me $100 to cover that $0.01 shortage. Having $100.01 less in my next month's budget was hard. My Father taught me a life long lesson. Spend only what you have and make a habit of saving a percentage each month for the unexpected.

I made it through to the end and I enjoyed every minute. I am the one that handles our finances and I do things a bit differently than you, but I must say, I have learned a bit from these two videos and I will probably be making a few changes. One change I am going to start immediately is paying the credit card charges as they are made instead of waiting for the bill in the mail. That is genius!

I made it all the way to the end. I love these videos, my husband and I are literally at the same point in our marriage that you two were in, he is a service member and I currently run a military child care facility out of my home (cdh). We have been married for nearly 5 years and are starting to become vastly more serious when it comes to our incomes budgets and expenses. We are always looking for simple yet effective accounting tools for our family. I believe the envelope system is the next target for us. I really appreciate these videos and Michael's advice and your honest perspective on it because I think I can say I am struggling with coming to grips with having to be much more strict than I currently am to meet the goals my husband and I have for our future. So thank you so much and as you can see I really love these videos so please keep them coming!!!

Loving this series which I watched to the end btw! My husband and I are in our mid 30's and never really have budgeted our income. He's a saver, me on the other hand, I'm a spender! I never really liked the word budget because I just felt restricted but I think now it's not about being restricted at all, its about being smart with finances. Thank you both for this very informative information. We will definitely put it into action!

I can't thank you enough for these videos. You are so generous to make them, and I am sharing them happily with my husband, children and friends. My son is still in grad school and was lamenting that he had no clue where to begin creating a budget. I was shopping for books, but your advice is so much better and more palatable to beginners and experienced budgeters alike.

Watched entire video--love M&M videos. I typically have all our bills paid automatically and others I just pay in full. We also have a few bank accounts and have money sent from my hubby's check directly to those for savings accounts for certain things. However, this series is making me think of re-vamping our system. My husband is always on board so I know he wouldn't mind! Thank you so much for the incredible time this series is taking. You have to know, this is such invaluable information to so many people!!!

This was a great video. My husband and I have been married for 13 years and have never applied a 'budget'. I feel so much better now that I am doing things the right way. I also use 3 accounts. Each pay, I tally the monthly bills, and move that into a bill pay only account. That was created mostly so I wouldn't accidentally bounce check or over draw. Also, I have an amount automatically moved out per pay, into a savings account for emergencies or things that require a chunk of money all at once, like school shopping for 3 girls. Then what is left in the regular checking account, which is hooked up to our debit cards, is for everything else - groceries, gas, clothes, necessities. Unfortunately, entertainment is not in the budget as an "expense". It all depends on IF we have it at the time. Thanks for these videos!

Marnie, I am really loving these M&M videos on budgeting. Your first one rang so true- I'm 26 now, but when we first got married 4 years ago we both took care of paying bills and it was confusing and we often double paid bills! Now I take care of it all since I'm type A like Michael. After last weeks video I went through all of our debits and credits from January to now and categorised them. I'm really looking forward to following along and getting on top of creating an actual budget.

I think it is great that you are doing this. I really don't know how people function without some kind of a budget in place to know where their money is going. I have been married 46 years. About year 4 we set up a very similar budget system which we are still using with a few modifications along the way. We don't use all the latest technology for paying all of our bills (probably an age related stubbornness LOL!) so we do still write a few checks but minimally. Our pots for our working budget are 2 checking accounts and a money market. The categories in each pot are on paper....yes PAPER😁 (but no envelopes😉lol) entries are debited and credited on the paper ledgers. It has worked and continues to works beautifully for us. We each have a portion of the working budget that we are responsible for but in the event something would happen to either of us we both know the other's portion. I hope viewers will take what you are teaching and adapt it to their own needs. It is a very freeing and empowering tool whether one has little or lots. A budget can make little seem like much more when it isn't evaporating into the unknown but rather deliberately used in achieving one's financial goals. I watch your videos all the way through.

I love your videos but I like these also. So many people don't know how to budget. That is why so many people are in debt and live on credit. Good job. These videos are very helpful ..

Made it all the way through and even sent the link to my hubby!! We do something similar to this, but Michael seems to have it down to a science and we could definitely use some fine tuning! Thanks!
