One thing I value in a reviewer is seeing what the average consumer will experience. Of course because you get stuff for free so you won't be able to fully understand it, but think about what will be on the market compared to this, how would the average consumer go about picking this up compared to something like a legion go, and most of all how much does it cost compared to other devices and does it justify that said price. I think I am at a point where instead of wishing Intel good luck in their business and hoping other customers to support them until they become objectively "good" for me to invest in, this device or rather this timeline of Intel chips/Arc graphics might be the first time in a long time where I take the initiative to support them personally. I really want them to do more of this as well as more of Battlemage and actually take a chunk of that pie that AMD and Nvidia are abusing like it's some IKEA all you can eat buffet and our options are very limited for price tags that don't justify the investment. I am not even getting into all this "4090 in your 5070 here is some 270 fake frames to get you going boss" business. This is so refreshing, I wish this was the original MSi Claw, I really hope that they can recover from the original reception to the brand with this one moving forward.

I always love that you bring real world use to the table. Benchmarks are great and as much as "bigger number make monkey brain go oooo" is good. Having the context of actual use is sooo much better. Youre the reason that I ended up getting an Ally alongside my Steam Deck. You were so balanced talking about everything with it and I enjoy so much more for taking your views into account and just enjoying what it is.

You can try and run some professional imaging processing softwares, or CAD softwares on the Windows handheld, and give some feedback with stats about how they are performing for professional use and compare between the different handheld devices you have. This will be essential information for all the guys that are interested in buying the handheld and use it as a workstation too. I haven't seen any other similar channel doing that. All the focus is exclusively on gaming performance

@@adamheath2533 I just bought the Ally X, but given the attention is on AMD. Would not having RIS/RSR on Intel be a dealbreaker? I can use Lossless Scaling for framegen. Only concerns I have tbh and the microstutters that I get on my Ally that I'm hoping to mostly get rid of if I upgraded. Would you say it has something similar to RSR/RIS and less stuttering over the Ally X? Resident Evil 4 runs kinda stuttery, so do a few other games.

⁠​⁠@@Tripleh3lix20I think there are more games with FSR than XeSS, but I didn’t like FSR at all. It was always blurry to me. Intel’s XeSS works incredibly well. Just wish more games had it. I think there are issues with some games with Intel or AMD but I personally not ran into many of them. Lossless Scaling does work on the MSI Claw 8, but I haven’t used it much because I feel like I’m getting good FPS without it. The biggest difference for me is the screen size. It’s way easier to see what is going on in games on the Claw 8. There were games that I couldn’t play on the Ally X because the screen was too small, like Warhammer Rogue Trader and BG3. I really liked the Ally X except for the screen and bezels. Every time I looked at the bezels all I could think of was all that wasted screen space lol. They are both great handhelds. I feel lucky to have one. If you love the battery and power of the Ally X but wish the screen was bigger then I’d definitely get the Claw 8.

I currently have the OG Z1E Ally and its battery has severely degraded (it barely lasts 50mins at 10Watts) :( Would you recommend getting this over the Ally X or the new Legion Go which will come in Q3. I like your style a lot, you fill a similar niche as Russ from Retrogamecorps, and by that I mean that you review the experience of using these devices, which is what this is ultimately about. While I do have a good understanding of tech, those big reviewers seem to obsess over analyzing the market and having the objectively most correct benchmark numbers which doesn't really translate into how I imagine most people actually make a purchase. These things have a place, sure, but it should be a fraction of the review, not the entire thing.

Sounds like MSI/Intel did a really good thing with this handheld. Shame it wasn’t released months ago. It sounds like you can squeeze a little bit more battery life out of it than the Ally X. It’s just hard to recommend since the Ally X has been out for six months and this handheld is $100 more with about the same performance. I’m excited to see what they can cook up in the future.

It does look cool, but I still think the Ally X and Legion Go 2 are better options at this price range. With the Ally X, you get roughly comparable performance and battery life, an option for 1 TB of storage for $100 cheaper, 2 TBs for the same price, and slightly better portability since it weighs less. With the Legion Go 2, you get all of the same goodies as the OG Go, along with an OLED VRR screen. Finally, Intel compatibility with Bazzite is still a work in progress, so you’re more likely to run into issues on the Claw than you are on an AMD handheld.
