A laptop internal accessibility can be challenging. Replacing parts without damaging your hardware is the end goal and why I decided to make these videos.

Can you show how to properly clean laptops inside out? Like fans from dust, keyboard and screen without damaging it
@deksroning125
@deksroning125 3 жыл бұрын
This isn't that difficult to do... however, the cleaning procedure will differ from one laptop to the next (it will depend on how difficult the manufacturer made it for users to open up the laptop and reach all the relevant hardware). In some cases, manufacturers tend to put most of the key components (like CPU, GPU, etc) below the non-removable keyboard... which then forces the user to completely disassemble the laptop in order to reach them. These kind of assembled laptops are most difficult to handle... but most tend to allow easy access to internal components by simply removing the back panel (you have to make sure you have turned the machine off prior to opening it of course, and I'd also suggest draining the battery and then pressing and holding the power button for 10 seconds to remove any excess charge... or if you have a non-removable battery, make sure to turn off the machine, remove the back panel, and with anti-static gloves disconnect the battery from the motherboard... after which press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to remove any excess charge). Once you've done this, you can remove the cooling system by unscrewing the screws holding it down... clean up the thermal paste from the CPU and GPU dies using isoprophil alcohol (highest concentration is best as it evaporates quickly), and dust off the dust from the fans and area between the fans and exhaust vents (usually using a small paint brush will do, cotton swab or a wet wipe). In some cases, you may need to apply fresh thermal paste to the VRAM and other voltage control chips - in some laptops they come with the thermal paste on them, in others, they usually come with efficient thermal pads). Once you're re-applied the thermal paste the CPU and GPU dies, reassemble the cooling assembly, re-attach the battery to the motherboard and close up the back panel.

@@iraklimgeladze5223 I wasn't suggesting using the wet towel to clean the keyboard.... Only to use wet wipes to clean off the old thermal paste from the cpu and gpu dies and maybe from the fans... You don't touch anything else with them.

@@iraklimgeladze5223 no need to use the wet wipes. Just use some proper rubbing alcohol (as close to 100% as possible) and a decent non scratch cloth to remove old thermal paste. You can also use alcohol on q tips and clean out the fan blades. For general dust removal, just wipe it off or use a paint brush

In reply to your question: make the condensed video, but insert links to secundaire videos where you take time to focus on extra's. That could generate extra click's without scaring people's for lengthy videos. Cheers.

Bob! We need you!!!! There are 2 main issue with GS66 that nobody mentioned in every single review I found. - First: the wifi connection. the speed in download and the signal are 1/2 slower co.pare to any other laptop, removing the back panel everithing work fine, so the problem is the materials of back panel. - Second: the performance unde thunderbolt charging. God it's so frustrating! I can understand that by thunderbolt charging the performance can't be the same as when we are using a 230 watt power supply btw it can't be that they are 1/2 than the performance by battery! Using a 100watt thunderbolt chargers in 3dmark spy (with an 10875+ 2070 max q) the results are 930 (GPU) and 7500 (CPU) that means that all watts are drained by the CPU making the laptop unusable (on battery 2500/5500 and it has much more sense!).

This is how you fix the fan noise on a MSI laptop with Dragon Center. I have a GE75 Raider with RTX 2060. You set User Scenario to "User" then "Advanced" under Fan Speed. You click on the disc icon to open the fan pillar graph. For CPU, the pillar on the far left, I set it to 0%. For the other 5 pillars, I set mines to 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25%. For the GPU, I leave it default because I never use the GPU during basic tasks. You can still adjust it too if you want. It's 99.5% silent for basic tasks but one in awhile, the CPU does hum on then hums off for my laptop. The "silent" mode isn't silent for basic tasks. It's really meant for gaming with little fan noise. It's not like Balanced or whatever Performance mode where the fans are running at 75%+ fan speed. I think silent mode caps the fan speed to around 40 to 50% for gaming.

@@BobOfAllTrades Just saw a review and indeed the screen is pretty bad. It also has no ability to disable Optimus like some of MSI current offerings. Back to the hunt it appears. The Eluktronics with that new 1440p 165hz screen and AMD CPU is now on the short list. Best Buy has a pretty good sale on last gen GS66 laptops. $1099 for a GS66 with 10750H and 2060 is appealing.
