MSI GTX 970 Liquid Metal Application and Game Benchmarks!

In this video I take apart the MSI GTX 970 from 10 years ago, for the first time since it was released, and apply liquid metal Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut. This helped the card run quiet. I test GTA V, Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, and God Of War at medium settings.

If you leave it everything at stock settings, it will lower your fan speeds, making your card quieter, due to better heat radiation into the air via the heatsink. But it also helps keep more stable boost clocks.

i repasted my gigabyte 5700xt gaming oc without thermal pads in mosfet and capacitors will my card explode?

If you want your card to live a happy life, please put thermal pads on your mosfets. If it came with thermal pads on caps, also do the same. If you were to send me your card for repair, for example, with a blown mosfet, you'd be charged about what the card is worth. Mosfets run hot, and will overheat and fail usually soldering themselves to the pads underneath. Your GPU does not throttle mosfets, as they are the power regulators. So if they overheat, they will eventually fail rather quickly. Put pads on them!

Too bad no data was collected like thermals, fan speed, noise, OC results etc. 970 is still holding :)

I didn't overclock the card or collect any data except what you see on screen because it is an old card. I can tell you that the noise levels went down to almost silent operations after the LM application. But if you pay attention to the metrics, you will notice stable frequency on the card. No deviations due to better cooling.
