@lofimusiqКүн бұрын
OLED is not cheap to manufacture, silicone is not cheap to manufacture. R&D is especially not cheap. The price they are is reasonable because this is still a niche market. If they had the same demand of a Nintendo switch then that would bring the price down significantly. Nintendo sells their Switch at cost since they can make up for profits with games they sell. This is far from the case with these since MSI/Lenovo/Etc dont sell games.

@@tendosingh5682 not x86, except for Steam Deck and Ally (non z1 extreme). Those are good options for sure, but we could use more competition, which would bring better performance, battery life and portable ergonomics for a similar price, all things the current offerings are not strong in. So many doom posting in this video's comment section though. MSI didn't rush out this time, in fact, they were pretty patient. Lunar Lake has been out since October, they had functional sample at IFA 2024 (September), so they spent 3 months to fix/optimize the drivers and software - just in time for Xmas launching. And from Lunar Lake laptop reviews, we already knew that its GPU is very competent, trade blow with 890M but at much lower wattage (very important for handhelds). And 890M is no slouch, it's faster than 780M by a fair margin. It's a new product with new hardware, latest tech (TSMC 3nm won't come cheap), comparing its price with ongoing products at sale price is not fair - not to mention higher RAM & SSD capacity. Let's not forget the outrage when people first heard about Ally X's price. As for OLED screen thing, I asked some Chinese stores (in hope of replacement OLED screen for current handhelds), but they said the demand for this type of product is still low, so no mass production yet. OLED screen for smartphone has a different design and connector, you can't just slap it on a handheld PC and call it a day.
