Finally, i've been wondering for decades why there aren't more boards with connectors on the back. Now at least two companies are getting into it. I mean, pick your base locations for everything, have them all be on the front or back, then it won't matter which one your board uses, you can even mix and match if for some reason that is a benefit to your motherboard layout or whatever, cases can keep it into account, and you're done, every board should fit every case (with the same size and base layout like mATX, ATX, ITX etc.of course). Cables can also almosty sure be shorter. Hell, i would even like plug in boards, as in you plug in your motherboard into the case, that has an internal PCB, plug in your PSU, with maybe some small cables, and a case builder might even make some spots for SATA drives etc in the case, plug in your mobo, plug in 4 SATA drives on the back, they're connected. All you need really is again basic spots for all your base needs and the rest you can play around with. Of ccourse a standardized PSU layout would also help, but that may be a bit too much, but hey, you can probably use a lot more smaller cables with even a max length of like 10cm and you're done, less cable clutter.

Its interesting to see how much aesthetics becomes a factor in pc building. 20 years ago pretty much only the case represented your pc. A raccoon could live inside and no one would have cared. Now its down to the last cable. For me, as kind of a oldschool builder, I prefer practicality and functionality above all. But it was a big step into the "new" trends getting a Fractal torrent with a glass side, RGB RAMs and the shiny 7900xtx nitro+..Some things change slowly but when practicality and aesthetics (and price) realign Im in.

Jason, first off hats off to you and Sarah again putting together another great video! Also the cat help was nice too! I like the build very much, it looks sleek. Wish MSI would of sent you a White GPU though then it would of been perfect! My white 7900XTX Taichi would fit that build nicely!!!! As far as the GPU connection, I think the power cable looks fine there. With that being said, ASUS has already pulled their shenanigans on the whole GPU power to MB. You were exactly right about the compatibility issue you can ruin into if you want to upgrade or sell/trade the ASUS GPU. Question, how did you make out with the cable management in the back? Was it much of a hassle as it seemed it could of been? All in all, great job again and very informational. Stay well!!!!!
@PCBuilderChannel
@PCBuilderChannel 5 ай бұрын
Hi GD! Thanks for sharing! You're right a white GPU would also look great here. I should have done a time lapse on the back as I finished. The trick was identifying the order in which I needed to do the cabe management so as not to wall stuff off lol. Once that became clear it felt a bit like working in a mini itx build, tighter than normal but doable with some elbow grease.

TBH, $450-ish for Case/Mobo/PS is less than I would have guessed. I hope this concept gains some traction in the marketplace... And that someone works on a solution for fans. TBH, I've never been less challenged by mobo cables than I have the rats nest associated with fans. At least ARGB hubs make it easier to hide the mess in a central location...

MB companies need to have a default setting that's a baseline to the manufacturers' recommended specs. Then if we want to chance taking things beyond spec, that's on the end user. It should NOT be the default setting to have everything turned up to 11.

Huh, I’m actually putting that same CPU in my dream build. Ryzen 7 7800x3D and Sapphire Tech Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX. I really need to focus on that build now. As my laptop I ran every day for 3 year is gone now. If I could get even an inexpensive 3050 prebuilt from someone like NZXT, that would make it less of an urgency. Right now, outside of my PS3 and Series X that constantly has World of Warships Legends crash, I’m probably gonna find other things to do. As I’m not much of a console gamer anymore. I spent much more time on PC games than console. In fact, my Series X at one point hadn’t been turned on in almost 2 months. It was only turned on to watch the 4k Blu-ray of Oppenheimer when it was delivered. Because I hardly play on Xbox anymore, I figured it would be better just to sell it and get a dedicated Panasonic DP-UB820 4k Blu-ray player.

You know what would be cool for the Zero cables and could work for GPU Cables in this case MSI should make a Vertical mount for the GPU that Vertical mounts the GPU UPSIDE DOWN SO that the front part where the cable plugs in becomes the bottomand then you just have a slot along there that gets covered by the GPU where the cable feeds through. You just make it so it plugs into the PCIE slot then runs to the Upside down GPU and just change how the GPU COnnects to the rear of the case vertically. Then you just have to make sure Airflow can be maintained as the Fans would point toward the Mobo which I Initially didn't think of haha. Normally I'm not a Vertical person but in this case it would totally do it for me

I'm not crazy about all-white builds, but I scored a free case & fans, PSU, and CPU cooler -- all DeepCool in white with RGB -- so I'm gonna do one. This concept will be great for system integraters. If this is standardized then entire case and psus could be prewired, reducing a ton of the on demand labor costs and possibly something a machine could do in the future, which everyone hates but is good for cost effectiveness. You sometimes mention downvoltage (or something like that) when overclocking. Why is it lower than the standard voltage. Back in the day we used to increase it, like from 1.5v to 1.55v or 1.6v when we increase the clockspeed, sort of helped to compensate for the power demand and heating issued maybe. Why lower now?
@SpoonHurler
@SpoonHurler 5 ай бұрын
Chip production is better is the simple answer. A combination of smaller dies, so less opportunities for flaws and improved processes mean more chips will be better and more efficient than the bare minimum spec. Undervolting was used in the olden days to but less frequently because fewer chips could benefit.
@PCBuilderChannel
@PCBuilderChannel 5 ай бұрын
Voltage is what provides stability, but also where the heat comes from. So if overclocking, for instance, you increase voltage to run stable at the higher clocks. These days hardware manufacturers often use much higher voltage because that means fewer of their products will be unstable (often resulting in a returned product). So it is possible to undervolt GPUs & CPUs so that you run them at the same clock speed and just reduce the operating voltage a bit to reduce the heat load. But that can also lead to instability, so the trick is to only reduce voltage enough to reduce heat, but not introduce instability.

I just built and I don't build often so I'm not in the market. But hey anybody can use a Dremel and make the slots needed in any existing case. I bet someone will offer stencils, jigs, and custom grommets. This is a step in the right direction. Cables can be much shorter. Nobody realizes PC cables are probly junk with low or no copper content. So less cables is a very good thing. Seriously there should be more scrutiny on wire content.

I am currently building this very same combo. I was really hoping you would show where on the motherboard you connected the various white cables from the case. Do all the JUSB's get connected? I've yet to install the liquid cooler. Looking forward to see this complete!

Can I just say it is REFRESHING seeing a PC builder on KZbin installing the GPU with the case laying down? I'd guess there are a lot of broken GPU PCB's out there because people insist on installing them with the case standing up.

The concept is alright and i can foresee it being better but right now it seems very counterintuitive with cable management. Most decent cases will only have the 24pin and gpu power cables actually showing which is more than fine. Front panel wires are hit or miss but are usually barely noticeable. I feel like we are doing hella more work for minimal cable hiding improvements. We need more space in the back since now all the extra length needs to be there(dual chamber cases would be nice for this), and even in the end the gpu power cable negates the whole purpose unless you get the specific gpu models like you mentioned. Not really a fan of it especially if we have to pay more for this "features" No hate towards you btw, in fact thanks for this video on showing us this stuff big fan of you and your informative videos. Just not really impressed with this right now.

Hi Jason. Power supply manufactors should sell an ATX 3.1 power supply designed for ZERO MBs. Or, at least, with shorter cables, braided of course. Allowing a black cat to walk in front of your PC will garantee it will not POST.
@PCBuilderChannel
@PCBuilderChannel 5 ай бұрын
Agreed on the PSU but the black cat is definitely optimal for a successful pc build (;

Actually, because my laptop croaked, I’ve decided to go ahead and build a budget PC with an upgrade path so I can properly save up for the good components. I’ve discovered an RTX 3050 will give similar performance as my RTX 2070 laptop, but much more stable, and cooler. Especially with the case I’ve decided on, the Corsair 4000D Airflow. I also salvaged my 2TB Samsung QVO SSD. I won’t have to wait for my games to redownload. I’ve decided to put a Ryzen 5 7600 into the build, as I already have 32GB of G.Skil Trident Z5 RAM. Might as well use it in the system with an upgrade path. As I can legit just upgrade the CPU and GPU and leave everything else the same.

So I wouldn't get the 3050 because it's a GPU I've seen nobody recommend. It's not a good GPU. Also Jason doesn't like the 4000D Airflow Case because It only comes with 2 fans.
@Kyleplier

@@kelley09162I’m buying 6 fans for it. And a 3050 is all I can afford ATM.
@kelley09162
@kelley09162 5 ай бұрын
@@Kyleplier well then I would chose a different Case. Go with the Montech 903 Air Base or Max and up the GPU to the 3060 12GB. I just don't want you building this Computer and not enjoying it because of the GPU.
@PCBuilderChannel
@PCBuilderChannel 5 ай бұрын
I really truly wouldn't go 3050. There are GPUs at the same price that are better options. And the 7600 will be a waste of money with that GPU. See our Best GPU/CPU Combo 2024 video for lots more on bottleneck and why to avoid it. Then watch our latest GPU Market Update video for the best under $200 GPUs that will destroy the 3050

Can you do videos using microcenter bundles to build a pc? Microcenter often has significant discounts where they bundle a motherboard, ram, and CPU.
