I have an MSI and I love it! I work remote and wound up getting sold a dud on best buy and got the blue screen in middle of workday! Ran out to Walmart and grabbed a laptop and it happened to be msi ( I was last to know that I guess computers now a days or laptops are closing out on the Ethernet port but MSI was the only ONLY pc in Walmart that had one and I grabbed it and happy with it! I also love the keyboard lights up blue but to be honest I think I’d love the 17 inch screen better lol but I’m still happy ❤

I think the Thunderbolt 5 is only available on the Intel model NOT on the AMD chips. "Thunderbolt" is exclusive to intel machines and macbooks. The AMD has USB 4.

My thouhgts too. 5 months into a product cycle for the GOU is pretty shit. I change every two years as I use my laptop for work. Seems stupid to wait that long tbh. THat being said some of the better largter panels aren't available until May anyway. I suppose waiting for info around April may be best idea.

As last gen Raider 18 (14900hx+4080) owner, I will not consider this if they don't add G-sync. Screen tearing is very noticeable because framerate above 4k 120 is not possible to achieved constantly.

This is a miss for me and many other people if there is no advanced Optimus or g-sync 4k 120hz without any G-Sync is a laggy screen mess waiting to happen in any competitive fast paced game especially with Mini LED Panels and their much lower response times. Currently the only 18 inch laptop to offer G-Sync at 4k 120hz is the newest Acer Predator Helios 18 2025 Model. I don’t know why MSI does not offer this it’s a real shame in my opinion. Also a downside to AMD is THEY DO NOT GET THUNDERBOLT 5 and are stuck with USB 4.

Gen 5 SSDs should be getting down near Gen 4 levels of heat, although I think even Gen 4 SSDs could really use extra cooling on most laptops, even with this new cooler on the MSI I really wouldn't recommend sticking a first gen Phison E26 or Innogrit IG5666 gen 5 ssd into a laptop, There are already some drives using the new generation Phison E31 dramless like the Corsair MP700 Elite hitting the market, but Phison also just anounced the new E28 Gen. 5 dram caching controller built on the 6nm process, and Silicon Motion SM2508 drives should be hitting the market soon, and Samsung has a Gen 5 dram caching controller on a modern process coming, SK Hynix might too, don't know about WD/Sandisk tho. It'll be nice to have Gen. 5 drives that don't require fans or ridiculous passive heatpipe radiators to keep from throttling.

There's another, but only in China. Mechrevo Dawn Pro 16 and Ultra 16, both can pair with 9955hx3d + 5090. Worse screens tho, didnt reach 4k like A18, but it does come with external liquid cooling system instead so 9955hx3d can draw power up to 125w instead of 85w like raider a18 (both 5090 can draw up to 175w).

The biggest problem with Ryzen 9 9955HX3D is it only supports upto 96Gb of RAM while Arrow Lake HX supports upto 192Gb RAM. Such as shame for powerful APU. Ryzen HX AI 395 in the other hand supports up to 128Gb RAM. I mean, in 2025+ the local AI will become a new trend. Smooth experience requires large amount of RAM not just a powerful GPU. 96Gb is too limiting
