Like another commenter, I've got one with the i7 1280p. Can confirm the chassis gets hot in the processor area. Question: could changing this almost 2-year-old paste help with that or will it just hot up faster (transfer heat to the metal topcase)? Is that even possible to do, do you think?

Thanks! Redoing paste and cleaning dust will help. The only way it would make things worse is if the paste is worse than the original or you do it wrong.

Have one of these with the 1280P i7, good machine but it gets HOTTTT under max load right above the keyboard. Afterburner reports 95-96C. Putting it on a laptop riser or cooling pad keeps that more in the 80's. Couple questions. 1. Why no plastic pry tool? 2. Why warm water and not 95-99% isopropyl alcohol?

Fingernails are better. They're more nimble/maneuverable, free, always on hand(convenient), allow for better leverage at better angles. Try cleaning up syrup with isopropyl alcohol and then do the same with warm water.

Can I replace my entire screen? Left hinge broke completely and hanging by a wire. Right side is fine but.. I need to replace the whole thing. Possible?
