that's nice board. i hope they added offset voltage for overclocking because the older x79 boards didnt have it.
@JoanneTechLover9 жыл бұрын
teeblack06 I'm looking forward to building on it! Why is offset voltage important for OC?
@teeblack069 жыл бұрын
when the cpu clocks down on idle or lite browsing or whatever i want the voltage to go down with it. no since in pumping high voltage into the cpu while it's down clocked.

The chassis intrusion is also nice for LAN parties (think overnight BYOB stuff, sucks to wake up and find your case gutted and left like a Camaro on blocks in the middle of a back alley). I hope you are going for the "cheap" $390 proc so you got more budget for badass GPUs and a bigass case that is bigger than you, in red and black of course.

Still love my MSI's. I use OBS too. My mobo's are couple years old, (Z77 Mpower Military Class), but most of the components and setup is the same like the OC Genie button,etc. But, that's sort of unfortunate that there's no display or HDMI port, and there's no wifi or bluetooth either. Kind of interesting that the SATA5 and 6 are flat on the board like all the other connectors on the mobo. Finally they did it right. I hate how the other SATA ports are going at 90 degrees, but that's how everyone does it.
@JoanneTechLover9 жыл бұрын
Oh you're right...no wifi card. That is a bit unfortunate...but, I guess I could always get it separate! It's harder to plug in when they're 90 degrees!

They cannot put any DP/DVI/HDMI/VGA on x99 as Haswell-E does not have any graphics cores on the processor.

I remember my first PC in 1994 has a serial connection for the printer and another for a mouse. I think even then I used the 'high tech' P/S2 port for my mouse. And the sound cards back then had a joystick port on them. Now its all USB. hehe man cleaning those roller ball mice often. Sigh.

I love the performance X99 offers, I just hate the Gawd awful slow boot up time when compared to the Z97 chipset. My Asus X99-a boots up on about 30 seconds using Samsung 850 Pro (512 GB), while my brother's Gigabyte Z97 boots up in 15 seconds ( crucial MX100). Hell even my mom's AM3+ OCZ Vector 150 boots up in 15 seconds or so.
@JoanneTechLover9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up on the boot time *feeling weary* That's scary.
@hababacon9 жыл бұрын
The performance of the X99-A outweighs the boot time. It just sucks to build 3 Z97 systems between $800-1300 for my clients, and look at my $1900 system stuck at Asus logo while having the Z97 desktops up and running on the rest.

@VINCENTDARKLY9 жыл бұрын
Joanne Tech Lover Well, MSI was a company that literally started off in an apartment in the mid 80's. Since then it has become one of the top leaders in the micro computer industry. I mean it is one of those stories where a company grows to a giant from almost nothing. It is now, just light years from where it started. You will find MSI parts in things you would not even think that they would be in. Did you know MSI made the first (possibly the only) overclockable 286 motherboard. Really they made computer enthusiast parts before it was even a fashionable thing to do.

Question please, i dont know much about OC, so i thought about using the OC genie instead. When OS restarts, it freezes and only i get is the following message: Oc genie is enabled we do not recommend to modify settings... and thats all, it freezes forever and stays like that After manually restarting my PC the third time i get the following message: All settings were reset to default values The previous overclock settings have failed, system has been restored to its default settings Press F1 to run setup Press F2 to load default values and continue... My specs: I7 5820k CPU 3.3 Ghz, 4125 Mhz 16 GDDR4 Predator hyper x 4x4 Msi x99A Gaming 7 MOBO Msi Geforce titan X Power supply es 850W Cooler Master Gold series Would this problem be related to Power supply? maybe something directly related to MOBO itself? I don't get these "gaming" boards. The only reason (in my mind) to buy a high end motherboard is for multi GPU or multi CPU set ups (or if you need insane amounts of ram). Like anyone with this kind of dosh to drop will have a real sound card/external DAC/AMP. at least it isn't as bad as those boards that have all that "shielding" on them and look ridiculous.
