That line makes me cry as well (like I seriously teared up just hearing it again in this video), and it's a wonderful reminder of *why* it's important for those of us who feel safe and comfortable to come out to actually do so. I always thought of sharing my sexuality with everyone as unimportant - the solid majority of people that I know wouldn't have been upset/unsupportive if I told them, but I also didn't see the necessity in being open about it. But that line pushed me to come out to most of my family, and we are all genuinely happier for it. If there are members of your family that weren't ready to hear it, I hope that this will change for you. But I truly believe that the world is more interesting because you came out, and I hope that it will feel the same for your family one day.

I love that episode where Amy is concerned about things changing. To me, it subtly touches about the fear that women suffer when being "professionally" superior to men. Like afraid to brake that fragile male ego. And Jake handles it with grace. It's like it's saying, if this man-child can take it, the rest of us, adults, should have even less problem with it.
