My guess is that this draft was leaked as a trial balloon. The Fourth Amendment actually specifies "the right of the people to be secure in their persons", not any vague right of privacy. Also I would argue that to adopt an interpretation of the Constitution urged by a religious minority and opposed by the majority of "We the people" would be to create an establishment of religion. As to the line of legal authority, I would argue that sovereignty rests with "we the people" and everything else flows from that. When "we the people" have agreed to and relied upon a law, SCOTUS has no business defying our collective will.

It’s not the fourth amendment that deals in privacy, at least not in this case. The fourteenth amendment is the one referenced, specifically the Due Process clause of it. When I was in high school, in the 70s, 2 girls in my class became pregnant. One was the president of the student council. Her parents were very wealthy. The other was a poor kid from the wrong side of the tracks. The rich girl was flown to New York where she obtained an abortion. She was back in school within days. The poor girl was forced to have the baby and she had to drop out of school years before graduation. This is what we will see again in the "red states". It is horrifying how Republicans seek to freeze the poor in place, with their boots permanently on our necks, while elevating the rich to excessive power and extraordinary privilege. Off topic, but just for historical accuracy, the seven Justices that decided for Roe in 1973? At least six of the seven held Christian beliefs and the seventh I am unsure about. Five of the seven were appointed by Republicans. It is the ninth Amendment that concerns THIS right to privacy. And no document is going to include every single privacy or right that is included in the ninth amendment! That is a ridiculous and dishonest argument! Read the Ninth Amendment! Folks ALSO might want to investigate the conservative state laws being prepared to make it punishable to go to a state where abortion is legal to have the procedure done! Educate yourself on the humanity of the unborn child. You should watch the documentary “ the silent scream” it’s on KZbin if it hasn’t been taken down yet. In this documentary, it shows an abortion taking place. The ultrasound shows the unborn child moving away from the abortionists deadly implements, and as it is being attacked it opens its mouth as if letting out a scream. I went to law school and graduated...those types of discussions did not happen!! They probably rarely happen. This is the worst propaganda I've ever seen. Current events mean less in law school than historical cases. Roe v Wade is not a case lawyers have needed to rely on, not even when prosecuting the bombing of a clinic.

Lie detectors are not valid. They can easily be cheated, and republicans have the playbook for cheating installed to their memory. It's probably the only handbook they've ever read. What really needs to be done is have a panel of doctors examine the "specimens" to ensure they are of sound mind and body. What you are seeing is delusions passed down from the Vatican to impose their tyranny on poor people and minorities. If they really were pro-life they'd end the failed war on drugs and stop driving health related problems into the criminal hemisphere where they are swept away into prisons.

This is simply an attack on civil rights, taking us back 50 years in our struggle. This is not the way forward. Clearly. I am very upset that our rights are under attack again. We are absolutely positively unable to care for more "unwanted" children, when we are so supremely failing those kids our systems already. Schools are in trouble, downright abusive practices are used, this needs to be improved. Adoption houses are full, and can not handle the large addition, that would be the result in reversing Roe VS Wade. Also, our foster system, and our court system, children and youth is a joke, none of our social service systems are in good enough shape to handle this change in a healthy, positive nor meaningful way. Who will provide for these lives we insist upon creating? I guess The Supreme court just wants more pain and suffering for we the people. Shall we proceed with creating many more criminals? Shall we add to our overpopulation? Shall we see the total collapse of our social support services? Let's NOT make this mistake. Think of the children, REALLY, think of the children. The best and only way forward, is to drop this insane idea, and actually fix what is broken. This Roe VS Wade issue, however is NOT BROKEN.
