My Elixir 2 completely packed with 6 stakes and all guy lines weighs just 4lbs 14oz. Love it. Whenever somebody complains about the weight, I just tell them that I lost two pounds to make up for it.

I love my Elixir 2. Had it for just over a year now and it's been great. New subscriber 👍

The corner sections of the flysheet is designed to use as a flysheet option only, where you can erect it with poles in to the footprint and then use just the flysheet without using the inner tent first... ie when raining or just to have more room if necessary.... 👍

Interesting video and one of the few, if not only, one of the v2. Same thoughts here about the corner fly pitches and how to line up the ridge poles with the seams on the fly. Also, any idea which way up the footprint goes? The videos say MSR logo up but the v2 doesnt have a logo! I’m presuming it’s seams down? Cheers Gary hope you got into those mountains🙂

@@16yearstravel No honest it was brill been looking at so many tents you find one that you like then u see a bad review , I'm going for the elixer 2, cheap enough , better than the hubba in storms. So yeah going for it , got so many trips planned, full walk of the pennine way, snowdon tommrrow, lake district, Scotland, list never ending But no great vid well done

I have this tent and love it. I like you struggle with the corner hitch points every time I use it. Don’t get me wrong, it works and I have never had a problem with it coming loose but trying to get the three metal loops to sit firm in the notch at the end of the pole never feels that intuitive. If you find a technique that works for you le me know.

Yes I reckon bring back the old version of this tent in regards to connecting points. Or at least give us a solid reason why they change them in the first place. And then just make them more robust and put them back as they were 😁

Hey. Have you figured out how the fly sheet attaches on yet? Is it supposed to be pegged or are you suppose to put the pole through the grommets?
@16yearstravel3 жыл бұрын
Hi Francis, Yes. the end of the poll go through all the alloy holes. First of all. 1) Put the footprint down and peg that out. 2ed) then the inner part of the tent as shown on my video.3rd) Then the rain cover, orientate it so the zips lineup and then put the ends underneath the other two alloy points, at each corner. The only thing you peg out, is “the string That’s coming off” In warmer weather, which they don’t mention and works quite well is, in the middle at the end of each point of your tent. ( Outer sheet/ rain cover) you have a small loophole “with no strings attached” Attach some string there, and pull it away from the tent body. This allows for great cross ventilation. And in turn, strengthens the tent as well. Happy adventuring!

Hello! Did you ever figure out how to clip the rain fly? Having the same question here...
@16yearstravel3 жыл бұрын
Carlos Andres Gonzalez Baquerizo, hey sorry about the late reply. I just got back from the Camino. No I think that’s just the way it is, I think I prefer the old MSR tent with clips to be honest

is it just me or the poles and the rainfly doesn't line up that well? I remember that it let in some water in heavy rain with previous version if I didn't line them up perfectly, not sure if it's going to be a problem with this one, haven't camped with it in the rain yet. And I'm quite disappointed that they replaced the clips with metal hoops, clips were easier and quicker.

Daybird Yeah, sometimes it’s a bit of a task to get them lining up. But I’ve had no rain as of yet. I also don’t like the new set up, I like how the old tents rain fly in the previous models, clipped in, to the groundsheet. this one doesn’t, it just has those aluminium loops, same as the tent and ground sheet.

Question!! What is the condensation like in this tent?? And how good are the gye points?? (Sorry don't know the spelling) do they keep the tent nice and string in real windy stormy conditions?? And as a solo hiker, is this tent quite heavy to carry do you think?? I really need to know the 1st 2 questions as no one ever seems to talk about them!
@16yearstravel2 жыл бұрын
Hi, The tent holes up pretty well in a lot of conditions. I never had to use the guidelines The tent is designed in a way, when the wind hits it. it pushes the tent down, keeping it more secure You would have to be in some pretty heavy winds to want to Guide it out. If you’re on the side of a mountain and the wind is hitting you, then respectfully yes As you know always try to orientate the tent so the wind is not heating it’s from the side. it’s easy to do this, as you start pegging the tent out. It will blow in one direction that way you will also get good ventilation, pegging it down in that orientation In regards condensation. everything gets condensation inside when the temperature outside and inside or two different temperatures. ventilation is key and try to keep things as open as possible ( weather permitting ) There also two small guy points underneath the ventilation that MSR don’t really talk about. I would definitely put cord on these two points and guide them out It allows for more ventilation to flow through the tent Hope that helps 👍

@@16yearstravel amazing!! Thank you for the lengthy and carefully detailed information!! I really appreciate you responding (not with a half arsed answer either! 😊🙏🏻). But just to get it a little clearer, you said that I shouldn't orient the tent to be hit from the side right? What do you mean by that? Which part is the side? By side do you mean where the vestibule and door is? Where there's not any real pole structure? Also, how can you know where the wind is going to come from when you are pitching?? Sometimes (actually on my very first time going hikking, this August, where I had calm day and then at night I was hot with pretty bad winds!) The wind can change direction! So how am I meant to know, to predict the correct way to orient. And secondly, do you think it's advisable to change the tent orientation at night if wind changed direction? Many thanks and sorry for the lengthy question again! 😊🙏🏻🙏🏻⛺🌿🍃🌾🌱⛺🌿🏞️🏞️

I ordered a v1 and they sent me a V2..... I'm not sure how to put the cover on now
@16yearstravel Жыл бұрын
Look at the internal zip, make sure that the external Zipper is running the same direction. Alternatively, mark the exterior outer shell With a marker with an L for left or a R for right at the bottom, as thick as a matchstick. That will help you orientate it

Fatal flaw in this video. When the poles are set up, Grey should run under red at one end and over red on other end. Or vice versa. Setting poles as in this video where one pole travels under the other at both ends makes the other pole shorter. You will not be able to line outer fly seams with poles putting undue stress on outer fly resulting in shorter life span/damage and eneven pitch!! 😇
@16yearstravel3 жыл бұрын
As far as I’m aware, the poles are colour-coded…. red goes in red, and grey goes in grey. ? don’t seem to understand how that can be messed up. it’s pretty simple stuff, no ?

@@16yearstravel At 4:52, grey pole goes over red, that's fine. But then at 5:11 grey should be going underneath the red pole if you want to follow the setup instructions to the tee :) It's a great tent.
