Your editing is really great! Just the right balance between showing us what we need to see without prolonging the shots. I also appreciate that your microphone doesn't pickup excessive wind despite how much of it there is. Really excellent job on this video.

Hi Richard...came here to see THE MSR tent being pitched up....walked away with value in terms of the tip to hang your pegbag on your belt loop...such a small yet significant lifehack ....you got me sub'd right there....hate chasing after the tent peg bag on wet ground. Your way is a much more civilised way of doing things! Will never forget this as long as I live. Thanks for posting!!!!! Off to buy a belt loop/clip....lol!

Great Video! One suggestion from my experience connecting the rainfly without feeling claustrophobic. Try connecting the rainfly to the crossbar before pulling each corner to the frame. This allows the dome to take structure before guying out the vestibules. Then, tighten all guy lines for rigidity. I went through a wind event camping at Red Rocks, NV and slept in mine during 65 knot gusts. (Be sure to point the broadside of your rainfly into the wind). Btw - the Easton Syclone poles on the updated tent react even better with snow loads and wind.

Really good video, gave me an excellent idea of what this tent will actually be like to use. thx! One tip though, use your shoe to push those stakes all the way into the ground, that way won't stub your toe or trip when moving around camp. Also, the stakes will hold much stronger if they're all the way in.

The only difference is, I'll set the poles in the tent and then stake it out, let's me move the tent around and find my sweet spot before i commit, this tent is so bomb! I highly recommend it, so many options and is very high quality, took my hubba hubba NX last weekend ( Mt. Jefferson) with some friends who brought an REI quarter dome and a MT. Hardwear in some wind and nighttime snow and hail, and my MSR was the winner, noise, condensation, versatility, ease of set up, etc...this tent is a solid purchase

Hi outdoor xp . Thank you for your video . 10 months ago I bought an MSR Elixir 1 and last Friday I used it for the first time. It is a very nice tent. easy to set up. light weight and very spacious in the cabin. But it was rain and I had a feather sleeping bag. after about 2 hours inside the tent was completely wet with moisture. I think the ventilation is too little in this tent. I couldn't sleep from moisture all night. The tent itself is very well waterproof. I had put my clothes outside the tent in the space between the outside and inside of the tent. next day, I was really surprised, they were completely dry, while they were not in the bag. But everything in the tent was completely wet. What should I do with this. I would like to have your advice.it would be great if you advice me if you know any tips for it . thanks

I'll have to say I had a similar experience, and I was just checking out the comments to see if someone had a similar problem. I also own the Hubba Hubba NX, bought it at REI, in Washington DC. Poles are extremely fragile and snapped, and then ripped through the cover! Luckily I have a repairing kit with aluminum tubes to use over the broken pole. I live in Brazil and I can't get a replacement pole here. I do like the design and system of the tent. However, the lightweight materials come at the cost of being too fragile, and this disappointed me a lot! Especially for the price paid. Although I like the tent, I'm not sure I would recommend it or buy it again. I think carrying a few more grams might be worth it for some extra peace of mind regarding the durability of the materials. Big flaw from MSR, I'm sad to say, but I have to say it about an otherwise greatly designed tent.

You need a wind deflector over your camera mic. Also never peg the groundsheet before putting the poles in as you can't then move the tent around to get the best position or move if uneven ground or if objects such as stones are underneath that might puncture the ground fabric. I have the Hubba NX better for backpacking and cycle touring as smaller pack size and lighter. NX is only a 2-3 season tent not 4 season. I have an Elixir 2 for more space. Slightly heavier than the NX, as fabric is polyester based, slightly heavier and more robust plus pole system is stronger therefore 3 season tent. The slightly heavier weight couple of hundred grammes more is worth it imho. The NX is still good but the cheaper Elixir 2 is better. Also it has a green fly sheet which looks better. Don't buy a gear loft. I bought one, seemed like a good idea, but never used it. Waste of money.
@OutdoorXP
@OutdoorXP 5 жыл бұрын
First, Alex I'm using a rode mic so yes, I do have a wind deflector ..okay another thing is you always stake first, according to msr & pending weather conditions. Hint, my video was windy, so guess what? Stake first!! Also, rule of thumb; clean all debris in and around the desired area FIRST before you stake your tent down. I said the tent is meant for 2-3 season, BUT I would push it to a 4 season, I didn't say it was meant for all seasons. I've been rocking the MSR HubbaHubba/Hubba for 10 plus yrs and it's always rock solid. Everyone knows that if your wanting a more durable tent, it is going to weigh more. But, as for experienced hikers who are trying to pack lighter, they will sacrifice durability for a lighter weighing tent. Some people may not think that a gear loft is a waste of money, but I'm sure you could make one yourself if you'd like. Point being, your comment was basically all preference and your opinion. Thanks for the view,comment & your time, please don't forget to subscribe.

@@OutdoorXP Thanks for replying. Better to learn from others' mistakes than your own. I think a gear loft in a 2P Hubba Hubba with 1 person is a total waste of time and money as there is plenty of space. As I say learn from others' mistakes , mine! Even in a 1P Hubba NX I have never used it. There are various ways to pitch the tent. It's just my way. I have never suffered a broken pole, yet, touch wood. It's all good.

I sleep both on the ground and in a hammock, (but not at the same time) so why would I troll ground sleepers? Disagreeing with someone's opinion is not trolling. May I suggest the Vango Banshee 300 Pro as a tent more suited to foul weather, this tent can be pitched inner and outer at the same time. It's roughly around the same size of tent so accommodation is comparable. Hydrostatic head of the fly is much superior in the Banshee (5000mm ) as opposed to 1200mm in the Hubba Hubba as is the hydrostatic head of the floor, Banshee 6000mm compared with 3000mm in the Hubba Hubba. Price comparison is difficult as there is a pond between us so I have taken the minimum price at which I can buy these tents on Amazon here in the UK. The Hubba Hubba NX2 is priced at £320.68 + £12.00 p&p and the Vango Banshee 300 Pro comes in at £142.20 with free p&p. Is the Hubba Hubba, in your opinion, worth more than double the Banshee? I know what I think. ATB.@@OutdoorXP

$450 for a tent is simply too much! There are other high quality tents for far less.

This Hubba Hubba tent is terrible. I just bought one, unless you use this without a rain fly in absolutely perfect dry conditions it doesn't work. It leaks like crazy. The design is terrible. Yes its easy to set up which is great. But thats it. The rain fly sticks to the mesh, even in clear conditions the condensation leaks all over you. Light shower you are in for a bad night. Don't get it!!!
