I know somebody touched on it here about the Rain Fly set up, which was done incorrectly in the video. So others can avoid the easily made mistake, the fly in this Mark II version now comes colour coded to get door orientation correct. You must set and match up grey tabs on the fly with the grey tabs on the inner tent at each corner point where the poles go on, and red to red on the other side. Thanks for the vlog!

I have this tent, I'm 6'2 and find it really big for a 2 person compared to others. but def not room for gear with 2 people, which is the point in the vestibules. great vid though!!! if you want room for 2 people and gear, I hate to tell you but your gonna have to go with a 3 person.

Bought this tent awhile back with the optional gear shed that adds a bigger vestibule area. It’s a bit more weight but split between two people, it wasn’t bad, and we had plenty of room for our packs and a bigger spot to cook when it rained.

@@markanderson3669 for me I think the elixer 2 just as it will hopefully be more robust tent with heaver polls + comes with its own ground sheet, I do like the hubba hubba but I live in Scotland and we often have wet and windy weather which could cause the polls to snap which I have heard of happening alot which isn't ideal.

Amazing video, congrats on that. What is your opinion on building first the inner tent? I dont know about your weather conditions. Currently i am thinking about a new tent and i would use the Hubba Hubba by myself, but i am afraid to build it, when its raining. She said that its not that big, but i imagine that through the vertical endings on Head and Footsides you wont get much contact, when laying near to it , with inner to outer tent? You made me curious for your other Videos :)
@AdventuresofShaneandLaura
@AdventuresofShaneandLaura 4 жыл бұрын
Hi HairBeard, thanks for the kind words! I'm sorry, but I don't think I quite understand the question. To clarify, the inner tent is assembled first, then the rain fly (outer skin of the tent) is attached. It certainly wouldn't be a ton of fun to put up any tent in the rain, though this tent goes up a lot faster than tents of a lesser quality, which is all you can really ask for. I hope that information is helpful!
@thomaskavanagh549
@thomaskavanagh549 3 жыл бұрын
If you use MSR's footprint, you can put the poles into the appropriate grommets, then put over the fly. Once up, you can then add the inner tent !. Not as quick as the "normal" method, but will keep the inner dry.

Thanks for the kind words Jonas! I think this tent is just going to be too small for you. Unfortunately, at 6’7 your options are going to be few, and I don’t know of any two person tents that would accommodate you. Maybe a four person tent(?)

hello, is the compression stuff sack waterproof ? I mean could I put the packed tent on my bike and ride in the rain? I know there is a big opening, I'm just wondering about the material of the sack. To see if would be ok when I put the opening downwards.
@AdventuresofShaneandLaura
@AdventuresofShaneandLaura 4 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry it’s taken so long for us to get back to you. We are not sure if it’s waterproof, but the material leads us to believe that it would be water resistant. Also, there are straps that would help to cinch it tight.

Different idea: Don’t buy a footprint for this, or any tent. All tent bottoms let in moisture. The priority should be to protect the camper, not the tent floor. Measure the tent floor when the tent is set up. At your local hardware, buy a sheet of visqueen large enough to get a single piece that will be 1 foot longer and 1 foot wider than the inside of your tent. Fold up a six inch side on all four sides. Miter each corner and secure it with duct tape. This gives you a waterproof bathtub to go into your tent. Now, you and your gear can be dry even if water is running through the tent. Get a puncture? Patch it with duct tape. Get 20-30 patches? Buy another piece of visqueen.
@galehess6676
@galehess6676 2 жыл бұрын
this bears consideration pro tip I have not seen this elsewhere Where did this idea originate? Also, USA has no visqueen, but I am betting Tyvek may be the deal
@jackvoss5841
@jackvoss5841 2 жыл бұрын
@@galehess6676 G’day, Gale. I got the idea from Cliff Jacobson. Hardwares around here are under the impression that they are selling visqueen. A thin, rollable-foldupable sheet of plastic of,say 0.020” inch thickness. It’s a bit like carrying a spare car key in a separate pocket. It may save you only once every few years. But on that particular day - it’s invaluable. It is NOT there to protect the tent floor. It is there to protect the camper when the tent floor fails - which it will. Tyvec isn’t the answer. @@jackvoss5841 Cheers! Thanks Jack. Seems like a trick to stretch the life of an older tent or one with seam tape that dies.
@jackvoss5841

@@galehess6676 G’day, Gale. Yes, it will extend the life of a tent that has a leaky floor. And, all tents start heading in that direction when we first take them out of the wrapper. For the same weight of a footprint, the camper is better protected. But it costs a lot less. sigh Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

This Hubba Hubba tent is terrible. I just bought one, unless you use this without a rain fly in absolutely perfect dry conditions it doesn't work. It leaks like crazy. The design is terrible. Yes its easy to set up which is great. But thats it. The rain fly sticks to the mesh, even in clear conditions the condensation leaks all over you. Light shower you are in for a bad night. Don't get it!! This is not a tent you would take anywhere away from civilisation.
