Another fun fact is millions of white peoples were enslaved in North Africa via the Barbary slave trade, at any given time between 1600-1800 over a million whites were held captive. Americas first war which was declared by Tomas Jefferson started the Barbary wars in order to free all the Americans who were being enslaved & held captive. The war was won and multiple Barbary states were defeated. Literally our very first war as a nation was to stop the enslavement of whites (particularly Americans) in North Africa. Imagine if that was actually taught in school?

Yeah, that's the case with a lot of immigrant groups from countries with government corruption. Nigeria is probably the prime example. There's a self-selection mechanism resulting in the people arriving here being more intelligent, better connected, or both, as compared to their fellow countrymen. And so as a result, they end up doing much better here than we would expect a random Nigerian to do, if they were somehow able to make it to America.

funny how you guys mentioned that because I just saw a great documentary on youtube about it. modern stereotypical american black culture came from southern culture which was shared by all people who lived there. and that culture came from the outskirts of the english isles like ireland and scotland. and those people were extremely white so its funny how that worked out. and despite all of the negative qualities of that culture, one of the positives is loving music a lot so thats cool. it seems like the southern culture is slowly fading away now. the documentary mentioned some settlers ships in particular that landed I believe around the coast of Mississippi area and the culture started and spread from there.
@@collegerebel I thought I linked it before. Maybe youtube deleted it. if you search "origins of black culture" it's the first result and it's called "The Origin of Black American Culture and Ebonics | Thomas Sowell"

The crazy thing with the UK abolishing slavery around the globe, they went into debt to do it & they only finished paying off that debt in 2015, so there are people alive today who paid taxes to abolish slavery.
@poika223 ай бұрын
The crazy thing about abolishing slavery is that slavery in one form or another had always been everywhere all around the world in every country across all races, until Europeans and especially the Christians in Europe had the idea that "hmm maybe slavery isn't cool after all" and in a few centuries got it abolished all around the world. And now it's the whites getting blamed for slavery.
@Iceman_Cool22 күн бұрын
As if they abolished slavery around the globe. That is absolute BS. India wasn't even liberated until the 1940s. At best they fought off piracy for their established trade routes
@stargate462518 күн бұрын
The debt they payed off in 2015 was created by doing a LOT more stuff then paying off slavery. Removing slavery global played a part in it but was no where close to the main thing.
