Other than Joe Don Baker and Tojo Studios, the only ones I that I ever heard got upset with MST3K was the people of "Time Chasers." (title edited; tx JvF below.)
@JamesWVanFleet7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the "Time Chasers" crew were more bummed than angry - MST3K paying for the rights to riff on the movie actually helped them pay off the film costs and see some profit, so they were in high spirits, and then they watched the riffed version, and, uh... they were NOT expecting the commentary to be as caustic as it was. Some of the MST3K cast later said that was one of the best movies they ever had to mock.
@cthulufunk7 жыл бұрын
I met the director of Zaat (aka Blood Waters Of Dr Z) randomly once and he wasn't too pleased I only knew the movie from MST3K. But that seemed to be more because they didn't really license the rights, said they just went ahead and made the show before they'd worked out a licensing fee.

Stranded in Space - originally the pilot for a TV show called The Stranger. The credits are clips from Prisoners of the Lost Universe. Master Ninja 1 and 2 - originally 4 episodes from a TV show called The Master. MN1 is Max and Out-of-Time-Step, MN2 is State of the Union and Hostages. I always wondered if Cave Dwellers was one of those deals where the pilot episodes of a failed TV show were stuck together to make a "movie" of sorts. It would explain the dodgy editing and why Ator's entire life history was crammed into a five minute flashback at the beginning instead of being explained gradually. There definitely seem to be a couple of obvious "fade to commercial" moments in there too.

@@olinseats4003 Which can be made fun of in the 2nd Season of Netflix's MST3K. Jonah and the bots have to watch "Ator The Fighting Eagle"

Joel's sleepy stoner character may not tickle everyone's funny bone. Mike, who was the head writer at the time created a much sharper character. Which is funnier is simply a matter of taste.

I think they're both good in their own way. Joel does tickle me more in more ways, still. :D

I'm more privy to Joel, I don't know he just seems more genuine. It doesn't hurt that I grew up watching the show with Joel.

I think Mike benefitted from a better selection of movies (again a matter of taste) but I like the independence of Joel's era. Watching the show became kind of hit or miss for me when it moved to SciFy and the skits became a "serial" of sorts.

@MAGA WITCHCRAFT 666 One, Mike is an American Conservative. Two, Nazis were the Protestant equivalent of fascists, aka right wing totalitarians. Three, you seem obsessed with gay sex, trust me, the world is better when you aren't staring at closet walls.

It always confused me why the "heroes" let 5 innocent people be devoured by a massive snake but only lept into action when lady hubcap was going to be thrown in.

23:28 The funniest part...Crow gets his throat slit by Joel. It reminded me for some reason of that Mr. Show episode where David Cross kills the kid at Fat Camp.

19:25 Ah, to Love one, ye has yet to meet. Kevin Murphy is a wonderful, multi talented supreme being and just made my new favorite joke, about Canada, my home and naked land. It was subtle, curt and timed perfectly. I think you need to be Canadian, or Northern American, to,truly appreciate it. Or somewhere really cold. To others, it may be one of hundreds. To us, it will be forever etched, into the land itself! ......I have just learned that etching is expensive. So I will resort to plan B. Wait for the first Snowfall and write the entire joke into the freezing snow, using only my trusted staff...or rod. Cheers and Beers, from Canada

Why would you downvote this? Seriously? 67 people ( I truly hope they are bots) downvoted this MST3k episode? This was the epitome of 1990's entertainment :)
