14:40 As a loctician myself, I dont mind people having a ton of locs IF they are willing to come more often. You can still knock out a retightening on a lot of locs if the client is willing to come more often. You can't have 700 locs but want to only come thru every 10-12 weeks... its just not a feasible appointment. 17:24 Yes it is daunting to do interlocks on very very long hair, much easier to go the microloc route where you can do two-strand twists or braids... much faster establishment than interlocks. They came out beautifully. Good for you.

Thank you dear. I just love you and your daughters hair. I want to loc my daughter hair when she gets around 4 or 5. Did your husband have a problem with it at first?
@Bindi_Marc4 жыл бұрын
@@mstanish1 Interestingly he did not. But I thought he would which is why when she asked for Sisterlocks I said, "Go ask Daddy" thinking he was going to say no but he said yes. I was shook. By then I had already established my micros and I think that gave him the chance to see what they could look like. I'm sure that impacted his decision making in a positive way. Perhaps as your husband sees the your locs continue to get more beautiful it may help him want that for y'all's baby girl.

I thought I was like one of the only ladies with DIY microlocs who wanted to keep her curly ends!😆 I love my curly ends and my locs are a tab bigger than yours. And I had received a similar quote as well when I reached out to salons because I started with around 20" of hair (5 years post big chop). I did start my DIY microlocs with braids instead of two-strand twists so never worried about unraveling due to washing, conditioning, etc. As for lint, I've never had an issue because I sleep with a satin scarf & bonnet every night and around the house I wear my hair up in a loose pineapple. No bands, just a simple flip of my hair up and a few strategically placed Bobby pins. It helps keep hair from rubbing on anything (i.e. clothing, furniture, etc.). One shampoo that I've found and LOVE😍 is CurlMix Aloe Shampoo. I have 3c/4a hair and it is amazing! I'm not really a fan of there other products, but that shampoo is everything! Especially if you're looking to pair down the number of products you use. You don't even have to use a conditioner if you don't want to. I'm currently working on making my own products because I've found that there are very few products on the market that work well for me. P.S. I really enjoy your channel!

@JessikaJane When you started your microlocs, did you interlock, two strand twist or braid? If you interlocked, which interlocking pattern did you use? I also have 3c/4a hair. I am trying to determine the best method to start my microlocs. Thanks. 🙏🏾
@jessikajane49674 жыл бұрын
@@renewedmind3467 I started with micro braids because they're more secure than mini twists with less chance of swelling (which I absolutely did not want). Every 8 weeks or so, my hair stylist does a 3 point interlinking technique to retighten my locs. To date, I've lost 1 loc (out of about 450 locs!) so no complaints from me😊

I am also a loctician, you did an AWESOME job, on your hair!! **** The best way to keep your locs open on the ends is to keep them moisturized!.. Hi Tanish, just a note from a former SAHM, who took a few years off to be with kids. Staying out longer than 1- 1 1/2 years can create problems when you are ready to re-enter the workforce. It will come primarily from female principals/managers. One gentle suggestion would be to try to work even part-time after your year to save you from having to restart your career. For me to restart ... I eventually returned to school for a Graduate degree and still had to start at the bottom again. This is coming not just from my experience but that of many other SAHM's that I've spoken with of all races. Just a suggestion.
