Wow, Mt. Carmel's band seems to have really shrunk over the years.Back when I was in band during the '80s going to the Mt. Carmel parade and half time competition every year I remember them being huge with so many people on the field that they could barely move and with some just standing in the end zones. It's also really cools seeing Diamond Bar in the back. I didn't go to Diamond Bar, I grew up in Los Al, but both of my kids went to Diamond Bar and one of my nephews in currently going to Diamond Bar and is in the band.

its a late response but as a student i can answer as to why. Its a combination of both a new large highschool drawing away students (Westview), Covid causing students to enjoy performing arts like band and orchestra less, and a larger focus on AP classes that draw more time being better valued in getting preferential college acceptance

Drum major has 30 seconds to start the band from when the judge gives them the okay. It was at least 45 seconds….

@@ThesnarkyduckI could be mistaken but I believe I heard him use a couple of those precious seconds to put the group at parade rest. Then I hear him call the band right back to attention… sigh….. Meanwhile I enjoyed the performance overall.
