One of my absolute favourites. Thanks for an excellent performance.

Performed this piece for honor band today! I played snare and the clinician didn't conduct, he just let percussion run wild. Though he did tell us to slowly accel. the last repeat of the woodwind fast section, which we sped up to near double time. Yeh. The woodwinds hated us! But it made them better so you're welcome!

This is one of my favorite Sousa marches. And seeing it performed live by one of Southern California's top parade bands in November 2019 (Mt. Carmel High School - San Diego), made me like it even more.

We played this in honor band back in high school, the flutes and clarinets always dreaded that fast part. It was always fun listening to them while I'm playing the bass part with my Bari Sax.

This march is unusual in a couple of ways: Firstly the second strain is 32 bars, rather than 16 (which only occurs in a handfull of Sousa's works), and the trio is double-timed the first time through (1:39), making it 16 bars in length, then when it comes back after the breastrain for the second and third times, it is spaced out making it 32 bars in length (2:08). A great work that sadly isn't played as much as it should be with very interesting woodwind countermelodies and percussion effects.

They may be total beasts at their instruments, but they are still people, after all. 😊

What is the name of the instrumentator of this version, or at which publisher can I find this version?

I think it's the Frank Byrne arrangement, which foreshadows the version in the Marine Band Complete Marches Project. Like Brion, Byrne did his best to reassemble the marches as close as possible to the Sousa original.
