This was the old WFAN studios in Queens and it absolutely had that 1980s overall look. I believe the studio moved to Manhattan later that year where it still is today.

I find the overreaction to everything that is negative, no matter how miniscule, with every sports team in the area is pretty hilarious. Yankees fans getting mad is also absurd because they’ve never gone more than 20 years without a title since ever. What reason is there to emotionally invest in a team that is guaranteed to win a title every 20 years or less? What’s the payoff? Where’s the emotional catharsis like what the Astros just gave their fans? Better yet what is suffering to Yankee fans? That you have to wait 10 years instead of 9?

You have to remember that the Red Sox had won the title twice in the prior five years and made it to the ALCS in '08. The Yankees missed the playoffs and were in decline since that epic collapse in '04.

i am not a red sox or yankee fan, but i disagree with Mike saying that the red sox are lucky, they have great talent and the players they didnt sign went for more money. Thats how it works, I have never heard Mike call any of the Yankee teams lucky over the years. The Red sox are good for 5 years and Mike throws a fit, I guess he forgot about the previous 86 years when the yanks won 26 Rings and the red sox a big fat goose egg. They didn't have to dump those contracts, but they were smart enough to get rid of those bad contracts in a deal, and look at where they are now. And The Yankees, playing out of their skulls, and due to GREAT pitching they're 7 games over .500. The Yankees are moving in the wrong direction. And I'm not "Sucking off" The Red Sox. I've been a Yankee fan since 84, and I'm just calling it like I see it.

this was 2009, the RedSox owned the Yanks for the first half of the season. I think they were 8-0 by the allstar break.. Lets face it we were all on a state of panic!!!!! then after the second half of 2009 the Yanks went on a rampage and won it all..I recall this show watching it , and yes I agree with Mike during this period the Yanks were in an horrible state, it is typical for all of us Yankee fans to be worried in April when they lose. I look back though on 2009 and just remember what a bad team, and I'm a yankee fan, the yankees were...they couldn't beat the red sox...slipped past the mets because castillo dropped the ball...and slowly but surely they turned into a 103 win team and world champions...hope to see more good things this year, NO MORE ALDS losses Yankees!

Although the Yankees won the WS that year, Mike wasn't wrong. Yankees set themselves back over 5 years with all the bad contracts they gave out, while the Red Sox had reloaded to win for the next 10 years.

Uh, no. You've forgotten that the Red Sox finished *last* in 2012 under Valentine (one year after an epic choke to miss the playoffs that got Francona fired) and the only reason they were able to bounce back in 2013 was because Selig allowed them to dump all of THEIR bad contracts (Carl Crawford etc.) on the Dodgers in the kind of trade that had it been the Yankees would have been denounced as "bad for baseball" and would have been vetoed by a Commissioner applying the Bowie Kuhn-Charley Finley example. The idea that they were an efficient model for the future at this particular point in time is absolute garbage.

Francesa is right about one thing, here. The Red Sox FO is much, MUCH, smarter than The Yankees FO. Brian Cashman is one of the WORST GM's in baseball. This fucking guy has more money to work with than anyone else, and yet, he's won ONE championship, in 2009 when they spent over 300 million on Tex, CC, and AJ. He's fucked up on so many occasions but it's gets buried because The Yankees do not suffer due to bad contracts.
