Can all real prog-heads agree that we've got Jon Anderson, Greg Lake and Peter Gabriel up there then argue the fourth spot? I'd be happy with Annie Haslam though my personal favourite would be Peter Hammill.

It was close!!!! I wanted to put Hammill or Geddy up there but Annie has to be dealt with!!!!!!

So many great faces carved high up along the sides of this mountain, but only four can go on top. First two are no-brainers (which is a good thing for me these days): Annie Haslam (queen goddess of the universe, obviously) Steve Walsh (indeed the standard against which all rock singers must be measured) My third spot is going to David Longdon (little known fact about Longdon: in 1990, he invented a time machine, went back twenty years and taught Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins how to sing.) And what's a good list without one good cheat: my fourth spot goes to the Moon Safari ensemble. Oh, and Jon Anderson (who would never consent to being carved in stone) is the halo floating over the mountain.

Until the 49 minute mark, I was reminded of the scene from the movie " Ferris Bueller's Day Off ", where the teacher was calling roll, saying: BUELLER BUELLER BUELLER except(until the 49 minute mark)he would have been saying: STEVE WALSH STEVE WALSH STEVE WALSH Steve Walsh should have at least been an honorable mention for everyone, if not in the top four. If we count early Chicago as prog: Terry Kath(RIP) Robert Lamm Peter Cetera Donald Fagan(if we consider Steely Dan as prog) As an honorable mention(both are an acquired taste,but effective): Supertramp's Rick Davies and Roger Hodgson

Well, this is difficult. If it was 'the top vocalists in terms of their importance and influence' then it would be Jon Anderson, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel and Ian Anderson...or Steve Walsh. If it's 'the top vocalists in terms of my personal taste' then it's Sonia Linwood, Jon Anderson, Annie Haslam and Ian Anderson. Honourable mentions for Peter Hammill and Roger Chapman.

Enjoyed the stream , lots of similarities and some left field choices from the panel , I’m with you with P Gabriel , J Anderson and G lake , Kate Bush would have been my female choice but only because I know more of her solo albums and collaborations with P Gabriel and connection’s with David Gilmour . Surprised Roger Hodgeson never got a mention, really great vocalist but maybe Supertramp not one of the top prog groups , although for me they are .

My Mount Rushmore has two Peters and two Andersons. I only recently got into Van Der Graaf Generator and have fallen hard. I can’t get enough and really wish their albums were easier (and cheaper) to get up here in Canada (Cody I will be making a trip to your store again soon 😜). I love David Bowie and think that he must have been heavily “inspired” by Peter Hammill. Such a unique vision and voice. I understand that he isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but I will gladly drink a pot or three.

Great episode Scot, and another tall order to fill 😆. I struggled mightily with this one as I’m sure everyone else did. But I still managed : 4. Gary Brooker ( for a sentimental, dark horse choice ) 3. Steve Walsh 2. Jon Anderson 1. Greg Lake Could have and should have gone with Ian Anderson, David Gilmour, Gabriel and Collins. Oh well, that’s the name of the game. But we love playing it. Looking forward to next Sunday’s stream. That should be a monumental episode !!

It's strange the way that some vocalists attract some people and repel others. The main reason I don't like Asia, UK and his period of KC is Wetton!. I don't know why, I just can't listen to him. I know he doesn't have a *'bad'* voice.

Sorry I was not able to participate in real time - another chap was using the computer here and by the time he'd finished, your programme had ended. Anyway, my Mount Rushmore vocalists are, not in any particular order: Annie Haslam (Renaissance) Jon Anderson (Yes) Chris Farlowe (Atomic Rooster, Colosseum) Roger Chapman (The Family, The Streetwalkers) with honourable mentions for Sonia Linwood (or Sonia Kristina if you prefer) and John Hodkinson (IF and Darryl Way's Wolf). I base my choices on their distinctive sound and style rather than their importance or influence. Obviously if importance and influence were the only prerequisites then one would be obliged to include Ian Anderson and Phil Collins among the quartet. If you ever do a programme called 'The Worst Vocalists' then I'll be there instantly, just so I can scream Robert Plant and Freddie Mercury at you!
@mythoflogic3 ай бұрын
And if Scot ever does do a "worst" anything you can count me out.
