Mt. Sherman is, relatively speaking, one of Colorado's easier 14ers, given its high trailhead. This was my 2nd time hiking this mountain. Along with the other mountains in the Mosquito range, Sherman is rich in mining history, as evidenced by the numerous mine remnants on its slopes. If you're into hikes with history and seeing old abandoned mines, this could be a mountain for you. For my video of climbing Mt. Antero, another 14er rich in mining history: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aGSqY6GHe8xqqKM. For other high mtn. climbs: studio.kzbin.info/door/Aig53voldCNhiBr61grAmAplaylists. Thanks for watching!! -CT

Did not know this was named after William Tecumseh Sherman. Thanks for taking us along!

Certainly - always my pleasure. And yes, interesting Civil War era place-names in that region.

I hiked this back on Aug 1st with my son and wife. Was planning to do Elbert that day but the weather sucked badly with low clouds and drizzle. So we decided to get Sherman instead as consolation. We stayed at Leadville overnight and went up from Iowa Gulch side. Your summit view, although smoky, was 10 times better than ours We couldn’t see anything except fog. Really like how you mix history and interesting tidbits as part of your intro at the beginning

Thanks for watching again. Some day I will have to come at it from that side.
