Wow! Much different from my Sept 15th 2016 summit. The switchbacks are covered and flooded and so much snow. Congrats! and glad you made it!

winky phillips Congrats on your summit! The amount of snow shocked me and three of the switchbacks you had to scale the side of to get to the next one due to snow covering them. Another frightening experience! But so incredible to summit and see miles and miles of beauty! Thanks for your message!

Aldo Parenti Hi Aldo! Did you stay at base camp? I don't have a dog so it may have been another short lady that you met 😂. But it was so great to meet others along the way!! Congrats on your summit! It was epic!! Keep rockin'!!

Thee Oneee Noee32 Hello! I have to admit I’m not positive as I had no knowledge of Mt. Whitney and was asked to climb it the day before I did. I had no idea what to expect! I don’t want to fathom a guess but I would contact the park to find out the best time for you to climb. Sorry for the lack of answer!

Oh wow Im a former runner but yeah i want to do something a little different and get to new places. Thats is the ultimate challenge. It was july and there was a lot of snow to be that time of year. Nice video tho. I would like to find a group too to do that hike. Is there like groups that usually do it?
@scubarocks20046 жыл бұрын
Thee Oneee Noee32 I am an ultra distance runner and this climb was a significant challenge 😬. I went with the group that I crewed Badwater with but I’m sure you can find groups on social media that try to organize climbs!

Hi Kellie: It's an awesome video. I will hike Mt. Whitney on July 27. Did you use crampons when you cross the the snow area? Is it necessary?
@scubarocks20047 жыл бұрын
Joseph Jaw Hello! Thanks for your comment! It will be an epic hike for you and I hope it is an incredible experience! Although I didn't have crampons it would have been nice to have them when ascending and descending the snowy parts. The sketchy area was really scary and even with crampons be very careful. Many hikers had crampons and poles. I had a run skirt and running shoes due to last minute decision to climb. Next time I will be more prepared 😂. Enjoy!!

Hi Kellie: Thanks for your quick reply. This will be my first hike to Mt. Whitney and it will be a solo hike. I am getting more and more excited now. I will enjoy my hike. Congrats on the summit. Have a nice weekend.

Superb job on making it to the summit. What app did you use to record your distance, calories, etc? I'm due to go late September. Thanks!

Thanks Erick! You will have an amazing time! My friend had the distance/Timing device and I think it was a Garmin watch. I hope you have a very successful summit!

Awesome video and just what i needed to see!!! I am heading up with my dad on the 25th! Did you use crampons at all? How long did it take you to summit?
@scubarocks20047 жыл бұрын
Hi Kody! Awesome! You and your dad have an amazing adventure ahead of you! It was an epic experience! Many had crampons and poles and they HIGHLY recommend them. I didn't have anything but a running skirt and running shoes as it was a last minute decision. There were a few spots I would have benefited from crampons! It's 22 miles round trip so depending on your ability or how you react to altitude (I'm from sea level) it should take 9 hours to 11 hours to summit and 6 hours to 8 hours to descend. Enjoy!!
