Starting at the Wilcox Pass trailhead parking lot we began the hike up to Wilcox Pass and eventually up to the summit of Mt. Wilcox. Roughly it was around 11 km and took us around 5 hours for the entire trip. Got to see a mama grizzly and her 2 cubs right near us as we were heading down the pass.
This scramble has a great summit view even with the smoke which was all throughout the valley. Some moderate scrambling on the lines we took and if you go too far climbers right, you may end up with some more difficult lines.
Disclaimer - Always scramble within your own abilities. Thoroughly assess the situation and research the route. Just because I may have done this route at this time doesn't mean you can or should. GPS and/or a topo map are a valuable tool to help. Leave a route description behind with the exact location should you not arrive home at a predetermined time. Have a way to contact rescue as well if you are in an area with no cell service(SPOT, Garmin, etc.). Also, if hiking in winter make sure you have the necessary skills and knowledge regarding unstable conditions and perform a proper risk assessment prior to engaging in this activity.

I recall this as the best view of the Columbia Icefields. That was about 20 years ago. It is a cake walk. Glad you shared it. Too bad about the smoke. Thanks again for posting all these brilliant climbs.

I really enjoyed it. It should have more climbing left in it as long as it doesn't snow too early. Thanks for your comments!

That's incredible you saw mama bear and cubs! I did Tangle Ridge in early august and saw the sign about the bear activity. Such nice views in that area. :)

The bears were very nice to see. That area is on my list of going back to. Lots to still climb around there including Tangle. All the best to you.

wow that was wicked exposure where left or right would've been game over. Reminds me of your ascent onto The Wedge,... yet this time wasn't solo with Spence along with you. Well done H!

My seven year old daughter asked as we were watching: “How can he get way up there?” My answer: “He’s Harlan Fox.” No more explanation was needed.

One of the most dangerous mountain I ever did. It's way more difficult than it looks. If you slide you die.
