Oh my god, literally just learning about Stéphane Picq's death now from this. I'm genuinely shocked, love his work so much. It's easily some of the very best Adlib FM music there's ever been imo, MegaRace probably being my favorite. His later non-FM game music is really good too imo. Very sad.

Stephane Picq composed the Adlib soundtrack for KGB. Everyone needs to go listen to it ASAP. It's an incredible OST, an object lesson in melodic "Adlib Techno". IMHO superior even to his excellent work on Dune. He was totally on the mark about the corporatism of the gaming industry: AAA gaming is now a cesspool of design by DEI committee and is creatively bankrupt. Rest in peace, Mr Picq.

Indeed great to see Songbird got a deal with Atari to publish Atari Karts. Good for them as Atari seemingly kinda forced them to relabel all of their games to remove the Jaguar logo, so nice to see they are on good terms for a while now. Ordered Wormhole 2000 (reminds me of Gyruss) and AK, although I already have the original of the latter already. But Jag collecting is just a thing for me. A big thing, tbh 😅. Cheers!

I don't know about the colours in this video, but it looked like you were lacking a lot of lighting and just had a single source set up close in front of you? The background seemed kind of dark with that.

Yeah. It's also rear focused. Some of the background is sharp and his face is soft.

Regarding VIC20: I've played Prince of Persia on stream when it was release (so did CharlieFar and did much better than me 😉). As for the storage you can use some of the same solutions as the C64 with SD2IEC being the widest used. You can also use a Pi1541 and even the same Ultimate II+ for the C64 if powered by USB (from the same mains power socket as the VIC20) with disk selection controlled via Telnet. There is also a Tapuino option that emulates a tape drive and uses .tap files. These days I use a Penultimate+2 upgraded to Penultimate+3 which involves adding the aforementioned SD2IEC. Very few VIC20 titles need full drive emulation (mainly demos) so SD2IEC is absolutely find 😁

VOGONS is a trash fire, has been for a long time. Not just the grognard members, the staff in particular. Very insular group, so the community at large has moved on to better forks of DOSBox, and projects that are verboten there. Happy to see it die out, but a shame as there are new members that come and go all the time with excellent ideas.

@@BambiTheHooligan Indeed, the people wanting to make a profit were evidently the profiteers, taking what the guy had already done, flogging their wares, and then their customers were presumably directed back in his direction to get support and to pester him for improvements. People can say that someone shouldn't have released something as open source, but then many of us are doing this kind of thing for the goal of preservation, where if you don't share the materials, the whole effort risks getting lost to history, requiring other people to do all the work all over again, if that is even possible at a later point.
